I grew up in Mountains that were in the back of our house we could walk from our back yard to the base of the mountain and hike to the top and have lunch and look at the view it was awesome I live in a place now that has like mole hill compared to the appalachian mountains. Our mountans were part of the ones on the Blue Ridge Parkway color season in the fall was magnificent. take your breath away. Love to go high in the mountains and watch the black bears come out and go to the river with their family and swim nature is wonderful to watch.
