Nlb, the destruction was up in the northwest part of the state along the ocean. Anchorage is locate around 600+ miles to the south. A great many of those affected by the storm were evacuated to Anchorage, however, as there simply weren't enough shelters available in that part of the state. Most have been moved to housing here in town of been able to return home. Winter weather makes it very hard to do repairs; some folks won't be able to return or a year or more. Oh, and it's affected...
