I love buttons. I have a rather large collection of buttons. Some are just like jewelry. My grandmother taught me how to sew and make clothes and put on buttons properly.
I inherited my Mom's button box, but I will never use them EVER. I send anything and everything to a tailor for mending or replacing. I'm not going to dispose of the box....my daughter will, someday.

I remember my maternal grandmother had a button box when she was alive. Her and my grandfather raised me from day one. That box was full. She would take them out when needed and put them on clothing where buttons had fallen off and went missing. She would sow them on for me and her other grandsons and her granddaughters too.
When I see buttons I think of my grandmother. She made her daughter's (my aunt) wedding gown. It had covered buttons with satin loops from the back of the neck to down below the waist, I don't even know how many. I watched her make them! (Barely any space between them!
Love the odd little one in the middle. Had an ok Christmas. Christmas eve day I spent with my daughter and then Christmas day I spent with my sister and her boyfriend. Still miss my husband and fiancé. I just pray that 2022 will be a whole lot better, for all of us.
I love cloth covered buttons with loops. My mother had a dress with a line of them down the entire back. It was beautiful but hard to do up or open.
Hoping you have gotten something happy from 2021 and also hopeful plans for 2022.
