My mother took us to both Brice and Zion when I was young. So very beautiful. Zion you looked up and Brice you looked down.

Okay!! Serious question for ya'll. My husband's blood sugar has been bombing out in the morning. When he gets up in the morning, it is in the 50's and 60's range. When he goes to bed at night, it is around 180 or more. to bring it up in this morning, he eats fresh strawberries sliced with a little bit of sugar, takes it again, and it is still to low. He then eats a few pieces of candy, takes it again, and then he eats an ice cream bar. By this time it is up to 139. We are concerned as to why it drops so low in the morning. He is going to email his doctor and let her know what is going on. This has both very concerned as it is just recently happening. Thanks for your help.

Good thoughts mamag, your doctor will know what has to be done. Our readings are different here, I think you have a zero on the end of yours. Eg my reading this morning was 13.2 and I think that would be 130 with yours. Still too high as they tell me my readings should be 7 or below in the morning, but has never been in that range. I believe, like regular people, that we are all different as diabetics and what is a bad reading for some can be good for others. However, my doctor and the diabetic educator disagree with me. They think that all diabetics are textbook diabetics. Hugs.

Mamag, if I eat something like chicken or fish for dinner with a veggie and then don't snack before bedtime, my fasting blood sugar will be low, sometimes low enough that I may have a 'low blood sugar attack' during the night and have to get up and eat glucose tablets or something sugary to get my blood sugar back up.
All that aside, your hubby's doctor will have the right answers; all we can do is voice how situations have been for us. Do let us know, though, what his doctor says.
God bless you both.

That is not true, AS. There are type 1 diabetics and type 2 diabetics. Type 1 diabetics are insulin-dependent while Type 2 diabetics can control their sugar level with pills and/or diet.

Magmag, I know nothing at all about blood sugar and diabetes. I think you should contact your doctor straight away and get expert advice from him. Doctors know everything. Hope everyone is doing alright, including your husband. ~Peachy xxoo

Thank you peaches. He is emailing his dr. and hopefully, we can find out. This morning, it was ok. His sugar was 101. We are still keeping an eye on it.

Parson Wayne, while my husband is type 2, he is on insulin. The pills and diet were not enough and he has to take insulin twice a day. 48 in the morning and 52 units at night. He is having a really hard time controlling it. He sees the Dr. next month and if it still giving him trouble he will see her sooner.

Mamag my blood sugar number are opposite then your husband I go to bed in normal range between 110-140 as long as it is below 180 after meals my doctors are fine with. But my problem is with is first thing in the morning when I get up my numbers range between 140-180 and that is way to high my doctor wants me below 130 first thing in the morning. And the only thing I am on is diet and metformen. What is your husband taking? Hopefully you can get some answers

Hi PW - I am type 2 and insulin dependant. Still stand by my comment that not all diabetics are the same, just as not all women are the same etc. Hugs.

I'm also a Type 2 insulin dependent (plus Metformin). I can wake up at 7am and check my sugar and it might be 125; then go back to sleep (having not eaten anything), wake up at 10:45 and my sugar is 140.
But I'm in line for gastric sleeve surgery late this summer and my Type 2 will go away, insulin and all. Wish I'd done it years ago.

AS, I was disagreeing with the doctor who said all diabetics are the same. I wasn't disagreeing with you. I apologize if I didn't state my position clearly. My eldest son had Juvenile Diabetes. He has no sign of it now in Northern Alaska.

You are lucky, Peaches. It is a hard disease to control. My husband's is running a little high again. I can't wait for him to see the Dr.in a couple of weeks.

Parson Wayne, I am a Type 2 diabetic and I take 4 insulin shots a day.

Jun 14, 2018
WOW trynfindit, I only take one a day and went to the doctor today as he increased my insulin by 2 units about a month ago and is very happy with the way my blood glucose is going down. Hugs.

I take one shot before each meal and a longer-lasting insulin shot at bedtime. Managing my diabetes is very difficult which is why I'm going to have a gastric sleeve done. :)

WOW that looks really rugged.

I Think I'm A Moth

"Doctor, I think I'm a moth."

"It's not a doctor you need, it's a psychiatrist."

"I was on my way there when I saw your light on."

LOL - just appealed to my sense of humour.

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Not sure who you are asking, but I'll answer! My husband and I were on a three-week tour of the Western National Parks --- we planned it for just the two of us. Loved it. We had each been on a similar trips before we were married --- it was fun to do it together!
At one particularly spectacular spot I didn't say a word --- I couldn't as I was in awe. Later that evening he said "You didn't say anything when we were at ----."
(I have forgotten the particular place.)
I said, "I was thinking --- I wish I could share this experience with everyone I know and love."
Right then and there we began to plan a similar trip and offer it to friends --- "We're going ----- do you want to come along? " Two years later, sixteen of us went on the almost identical trip ---- and they still talk about it!!! "

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time with a memory that will last your lifetime! I feel the same way about most of the trips I have taken in my younger days. Am always looking thru my scrapbooks and remembering all the good time I had with friends..

Elijah ---- Anticipation before a trip --- and memories after --- are all part of the travel experience. Memories are treasures.
