The Kippah is worn to cover the head. Which fulfills the Halachic authorities that the head be covered. Regarding the tallit, or prayer shawl. In each of the four corners of the shawl are strings tied in a particular pattern, called tzitzit. The origin of the tzitzit is biblical; the practice is prescribed in Numbers 15. The precept is to put these strings on the four corners of one's garment — in ancient tradition, with a single strand of blue as well–as a reminder of the duties and obligations of a Jew. Since we no longer wear four-cornered garments, the tallit is worn specifically to fulfill the biblical precept. A dreidel is a spinning top, with four sides, each marked with a different Hebrew letter (nun, gimel, hay and shin). The custom of playing dreidel on Hanukkah is based on a legend that, during the time of the Maccabees, when Jewish children were forbidden from studying Torah, they would defy the decree and study anyway. When a Greek official would come close they would put away their books and take out spinning tops, claiming they were just playing games.

Have never seen Jewish people play this game.

It's largely played by children; and, they're usually young. My children and their family and friends played it. It's fun. My kids, their friends and their cousins played it this Chanukah. I enjoyed watching them. They had fun.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this time of the year very tiring.

"At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe."
– Chris Van Allsburg,

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

I just finished making cookies for a Cookie Swap at my church group meeting. Tired! But --- I'll revive and enjoy the meeting --- and the memories it makes! Until the next project and then the tired cycle starts all over again!

I believe this quote is from Polar Express. Of course, this person could be the author. Wonderful movie for the whole family. Tom Hanks is exceptional. Merry Christmas Nancy

I know what you mean Aussie. I just cannot get into the Holiday spirit this year. Joe sees the doctor tomorrow and I am anxious to see what they are goi g to do about his medicines since they took him off the help he was getting. One med alone costs over $1500, one is over $500 and the others are also expensive. We were paying about $45.00 a month and now it will be over $150.00. The new program does not even have 2 of his medications listed. We are so stressed out wondering how we are going to do this. ow God has a plan for us. I am just wondering how that is going to affect our future.

I have to go back to the doctor. One doctor I mentioned a pain in my side - near the chest. One doctor checks it under my arm and she says oh it's nothing. Have two cysts that need to be removed as well. One is getting really painful.

Happy Hanukkah. At first glance I thought that was a fishing net with floats because it looks like a dock. This should be a very happy one for our Jewish friends.
Wishing everyone the yes answer to some long desired prayer.

I have a question for you, Kevin. Why do you hide some of the puzzle pieces? Often it will be a key piece and it slows me down.

Thanks for your feedback. We certainly don't intentionally hide the pieces on you, but they may become hidden behind another piece as you work on the puzzle. Try taping the "shuffle" button to mix the pieces around and make it easier to find the ones you are looking for.

Hi Kevin and Pixi, I usually do the USA puzzle and there are two very small states, one is Delaware and don't know the other one, but they get hidden all the time lol. But I do as you have suggested Kevin and eventually they peek out so I can put them in and complete the puzzles.

I would like to wish you Kevin and staff a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you so much for all the pleasure to give to all of us puzzlers throughout the year and allowing us to express our views. I doubt that there is another site such as this on the internet - well done and long may you reign. Hugs to all of you.

Thanks for the tip, Kevin. I thought it might have had something to do with giving more space to manipulate the pieces. Once when I wasn't a premier member I had to hit the full size button to get the last piece to appear. After getting the message I wasn't entitled to play that size I hit the return to smaller size and the piece showed up.

Happy Hanukkah. I used to play dreidel with my catechism class. We used skittles as markers. The kids had a lot of fun and so did I.
