My mystery

I would hate to get whipped for something I didn't do - unless it was something I was supposed to do. That's just a yolk, lest I be accused of being brutal.

Well don't let anyone egg you on if you think it's a mistake.
You'll end up shelling out lots of dough for a lawyer, and you may be beaten anyway.

Love it, Pixi.

I did something regarding whipped egg whites. Growing up my mother was cooking and she used a mixer. I thought the bowl had whipped egg whites or whipped cream. I put my finger and the bowl to get a taste and was in for a real shock....lol

So what was in the bowl, Carol?

Morning, Parson. Hope you had an eggciting day yesterday. I think we make good sparring partners.
I so enjoy your wordplay.

Pixi - I'm guessing it was caviar - raw fish eggs. My mother used to make desserts for dinner parties. She'd either have people over or go to one. One recipe is really easy - you put everything in a blender and hit blend. I enjoy Parson word play as well. There was one funny incident that happened at our house as well. My sister had a graduation party and late in the eve. I tried to go to bed. Open the door alittle and say nope. There was a couple in my room with the lights off. My mom even asked why I wasn't going to bed at that time....she laughed when I explained why....lol

Boy, your parents ran some very high class parties, carol. My folks never had a party like that.
How old were you when your sister was graduating?
Where did you grow up and how many brothers and sisters do you have?

When my sister was graduating I was 16 and grew up in Minneapolis. I have an older sister and younger brother. Went to school with kids that were in the end credits of a tv show. My brother had just arrived at the street curb when they started shooting the scene. My sister went to school with the grand children that started Target. They owned about 14 department stores and a jewelry store. I went to school whose parents purchased a yearling colt for 750K. Where did you grew up Pixi? Was wondering how many brothers and sister you have as well. Grew up eating 4 bday cakes in a week.

I love everyone's funny stories and puns and then when I get a time to do them, I go to the puzzles, so I don't fall to pieces in the beginning.

I usually hit the "my conversations" part of the site before puzzling also. It just seems fitting.

Carol's apple, when they were shooting that scene outside your house, was it a Western? or were they just horsing around? I aim to go to Target soon.

Carol, I grew up in Levittown NY. I was 3 1/2 when we moved from my grandmother's house in Brooklyn. I was kept in her house or backyard which was always fenced, but when we moved I was allowed out on the sidewalk for the first time. I walked down the block and couldn't find our house again because they all looked alike to me so my mother put a chair in the driveway with a red scarf tied to it so I'd know which house was mine. I have one brother 7 years my junior. I walked to both my elementary and HS. My brother was bullied in HS and I was shunned. Nobody was especially rich but I was in a class of kids that were above average so there was a lot of homework and it was stressful.

PW - no they weren't shooting a western. The shot was taken a few blocks from our house. The opening scene is from our area as well. It was for the Mary Tyler Moore show - lived one block from the house in the opening scene and two blocks from the lake where she walks around.

Is that in Minneapolis?

Yes it's in Minneapolis. It's about 5-10 minutes from downtown. The opening scenes of the show I remember well.

Omg! Pixi I can't imagine being shunned. I was teased quite abit in school because of our last name and my size. I recently was going to do typing for a business owner. We were going to meet in public and I gave him a description of myself and he replies Oh a midget. No I'm just short. Then I thought this man is a business owner?
pixipixil
Oct 28, 2016
Yeah it was pretty awful.
Business owners can be the stupidest, crudest people. I think being small can throw a switch in the heads of folks that have a bit of latent bully in them so they just have to act out against us. I'm under 5 feet tall so.

True and recently dealt with a business owner and felt he was insensitive and stupid. He put an ad on a job board requesting typing and doing spread sheets for him. I responded and we were going to meet in public. He gave me a description of himself and I went omg! Then I told him my height - small person and he replies Oh a midget. Did I meet him for the work No!

My maternal grandmother was 4' 8" and my grandfather was 6' 7" tall. Unfortunately they both passed away when they were 52 in the early 1940's - within 6 months of each other. I am 5'3".

This is probably going to cover a nice lemon filling setting in a pie shell and then slightly browned in the oven. Yummy.

God bless all of you and I hope you enjoy that nice lemon pie.

Someone need to tell aussie what you do to get the egg whites to not turn back to liquid. I can't remember what it is

I believe that is why you always add cream of tartar when you are whipping egg whites.

Never seen that before - is it just the whites that are whipped?

"When someone you love says goodbye you can stare long and hard at the door they closed and forget to see all the doors God has open in front of you."
– Shannon L. Alder

"Each mistake teaches you something new about yourself. There is no failure, remember, except in no longer trying. It is the courage to continue that counts."
– Chris Bradford

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Beautiful quotes today Miss Aussie, especially the first one. Jake closed his final door and I never got to tell him how much I love my son.But God opened other doors for me so I can help others. Have a blessed day.

You can tell Jake even if he can't answer back audibly. My son helps us out when we get lost on the road. Just when we need help, something or someone either associated with him or similar to him comes and helps us. We got totally lost at night in Florida and a gas station with the same name as a convenience store he worked for in NY turned up and we got the directions we needed.
It happened again to me 2 days ago when I needed directions. A young man about his age and build took time to draw out the roads I needed. And he just overheard me asking the counter server who didn't have a clue.

Ausssie, the whipped egg whites make the lovely meringue on top of the lemon pies we love so well. Or the baked Alaskas, ore coconut macaroons, and much more. I'm sure you were aware of them, but, perhaps had never seen them at this stage. nlb

Pixi, I have many loved ones who have gone on and I am constantly running into things that remind me of them, Such as lighthouses that remind me of my mother, (She was born in MD.) or my son, such as music, or leather jackets,. or my grandmother whenever I see roses or smell her perfume. I think that God send reminders or human" angels" that remind us of them to help us in this journey we call life. I find your life happenings of your son touching and hopeful for all of us!

Thank you Olamae. We all need angelic help. Even Jesus did in the garden. I try to imagine what an actual angel might be like but can't so I'm glad God sends the human stand-ins to us. God bless and have a peaceful night.

Yes, it's just the egg whites that are whipped. I've used whipped egg whites in many dishes. Souffles, mousses and a cookie recipe. The top of the cookie is hard and the inside is moist like a brownie.

I would guess the egg whites are going to be 'folded gently" into another mixture to make it light and fluffy. I do that with Squash Chiffon Pie.

Oct 20, 2016
Jamp I've never in my life heard of 'Squash Chiffon Pie.' Is it a dessert or a side dish?
JAMP124
Oct 20, 2016
It's a dessert pie. It is made with a can of One Pie Squash, an envelope of plain gelatin and other ingredients. What makes it "chiffony" is the egg whites folded gently in. No baking --- just let it set in the fridge. I cheat and use a Pillsbury "unroll it"
pie crust! I prefer this pie to the intense flavor and consistency of pumpkin pie. If I knew where you are I'd send the recipe. JAMP
