Wish we could buy big old Black Diamond watermelons. We had one that weighed 55 lbs, paid 50 cents. for it

The best I ever tasted. Had friends, back in the 40's who hauled Watermelons for a living. got a load of big ones from Texas to take north. He stopped at home for a nap & their 7 yr old kid claimed up on the truck & started giving watermelons away. Pretty costly trip, little brat.

Hahahaha, I wonder how long it took him before he could sit down without pain! lol My dad hauled watermelons many years ago, back in Indiana. We moved to AZ in 1954, and when bought our first watermelon here, he said that size would have been thrown away! I'm glad they've started selling the small round ones now, it's so much better for us single folks.
