Defiitely, pixi, and it would be worth the trip. It has been "developed", of course, but is still spectacular - especially the bat flight at dusk. Wheelchair accessible, if needed.

Thanks, aknan. I asked my uncle about it. He did a lot of traveling in his day but he hadn't gone to it. My mother did and I remember her talking about it some but not exactly what she said.

I like caves when they have been "civilized, " but not before. We did spelunking once by mistake and we both hated it. I have been in several caves that were developed and enjoyed them all...
Howe Caverns and Secret Caverns in New York, Lincoln Caverns (Pennsylvania I think), Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and Kartchner
Caverns in Arizona. That last while beautiful was a disappointment because no photos were allowed and lights were turned on and off to herd us along so no time to really study the various formations.
I'd like to see the caves in New Mexico. Can't think of their name. They are supposed to have wonderful stalagtites that used to be "played" by an organ type hook up. I don't know if they still do that.
Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.

That's it, Juddj. Are they pretty?

Well, they are very interesting and highly commercialized, but I found them entrancing. They are dry caves. You won't find dripping water which is essential for stalactite and stalagmite formation. The bat flight at sunrise is awesome.

Beautiful colors. I may have been to Carlsbad Caverns when I was young. Going to look it up to see where it is. Sounds very familiar.

Looked it up. It is in New Mexico. We traveled through NM several times. I am an only child so have no one to fall back on. It is to bad when your parents are gone and you can think of so many things to ask them. You just take it for granted they will be there for you. They passed in their 90's. I think we did go there because we didn't travel to many states. Where ever it was I can still remember how amazing to be under ground and see all the wonders God gives to us.

Carlsbad is incredible! Visited it a couple of times with a 4-H camping group. Amazing structures, all made from dripping water and limestone; we even ate lunch underground! Best visiting around dusk to see all the bats fly out.

Loved to go to places like this when I was younger! Sure can't do that now.
One leap of faith lots of little steps = success. Good day to all.
