In Honduras, March 19, was Fathers' Day, also, but Mothers' Day was the same as here.

You probably told us about this but why were you in Honduras; how long; how old were you?

I was in Honduras for 17 years, 1973-1991. I met this grad student at the U of Illinois, fell in love, but he wanted to make sure that I could live in Honduras, so we went there, I liked it, and we got married. So that is why I was there. Our oldest daughter was born there, and our second was born in Colorado when he was studying, under a United Nations grant, natural resources. We went back to Honduras and I stayed until the marriage fell apart. No regrets, except staying with a man who thought women were supposed to be utterly subservient to their husbands and could be used as punching bags if the men were drunk. Wow, was I a slow learner. Did not believe in divorce, but things happen to change your mind! Anyway that is why I was there. I went there when I was 23. Pixipixil, I hope you have a day filled with blessings.

Amazing what we women put up with until the light finally dawns on us.

It was sad, but I learned so much about me and what I would like to have in my life. And I have the best life I can imagine now. All of what happened in the past was getting me ready for what I have now and I appreciate the lessons that made this possible. Blessings to all!
