Pattern would distract from what I was eating. We have several sets of dishes but usually eat off plain white Corelle ones. I was trying to figure out what all was in the tacos. A lot more than I put it mine.

I agree - those are not tacos you can pick up and eat. Need utensils.

I love the talavera-type pottery, but I wonder - is it too busy to eat from every day? Would like some comments and opinions, please, as I have a chance to get some. I'm really leaning toward it, but don't want to get it home and hate it....

I would like this design as serving bowls, but they are too busy for me for dinner plates. My every day plates are solid white. I change my tablecloths, placemats and napkins seasonally and for holidays, so the white always works.

They certainly are cheerful though.

I didn't know the term for that kind of ceramic. Thanks for the info. I lean towards cobalt blue plates myself. It's amazing how appetizing things look on them. I have goblets in blue also. Most of the dishes are now broken. My husband didn't like having company but liked using them and they got broken since I had bought them to celebrate my son's graduation in 2000...and they weren't even glass. Remember Melmac? I have a mixture of mostly white Corelle for everyday and some other dishes with a very pretty floral border called China Rose I bought at a thrift store.
I don't have a dining room so I don't have formal meals even with company which I am now starting to invite. No silver. Just stainless. My mother, aunt and grandmother all gave exquisite formal meals. My husband's family wasn't into that. they were poor and there were so any of them they ate in shifts. Hence no upper class dining with me.

Pixi, we don't do formal dining, either. Generally, dinner (supper, whatever) is from trays in our laps! My only set of dishes is an Oriental Corelle pattern with small yellow flowers running up one side. I only have stainless, a few decent wineglasses and plain tumblers of varying sizes. Nothing fancy here!

I say if the ceramic is something that makes you feel good when it's empty it shouldn't bother you when it has food in it. Buy a few plates and try them.

Nice thought, pixi. Just may try that.

Looks delicious. I'd stay away from those peppers, though.
