This was a mystery puzzle for me. For awhile I thought all the speckles were on a snake. They are very distinctive birds. I would like a dress in that combination!

Beautiful birds, but I didn't know they were invasive. I'm always open to learning new things.

I believe that there called an invasive species because they will invade another birds nest.

Yes they are jamie...and they have taken over so many nesting boxes here...which is why, if you ever build a bluebird house, make sure the hole is not over 1 1/2 inches wide...they cannot get in.

The starlings in the United States and Canada are originally from Europe, Africa, and Asia, which is why they are considered pests or invasive species. The ones I'm familiar with are largely black with greenish-blue iridescent feathers. I've seen them in such large numbers where it looks like some huge moving black clouds.

Oh, if you look at the Wikipedia page for Starlings, you'll probably be amazed at the variety of starlings that there are.
