That was confusing. It was hard to see the details in the thumbnail.
My own fault. I don't take enough time b4 starting to study the thumbnail. I thought by using the edge of the boats it would be easy but the wood all around in disarray made it hard to pick out the edges.
Good puzzle. I enjooy Van Gogh's work and have several books about him.

The sand barges of today sure are a lot different from that era. I really like this picture, thanks C4J team!

Don't look stable enough for sand barges!

Very different than the sand barges we see up here. The port of Anchorage has 24/7/365 dredging - unless, of course, the ice is too thick. All the glacier dust, almost flour-like, that comes down with the rivers keeps the channels filling up.

Oh my gosh, aknan! I didn't know you were in Alaska! You know how tourists are. We think we know it all and don't really know much of anything. I visited your state in a little motor home. I went up the Inside Passage on the Govt. ferry to Haines from Port Rupert. I went all over the place and fell totally in love over and over again. I spent over three months on that trip and drove over 9, 000 miles and loved every minute. I only messed up one tire on the frost heaves. I'd do it again if I hadn't gotten bit oldish! You are blessed. Stay safe and warm!

Reminds me of the gabarres, the barges, on the Dordogne River in France.

Yep, Starrphyre, been up here since 08/83. It's really home now. No family up here, all in the Lower 48. Glad you enjoyed your trip up here. Sounds like you really took advantage of some of the beauty we have to offer.l You're always welcome to come back - maybe flying next time?

I wonder where this is - Arles? Paris? Van Gogh did get around some, but, he did not travel as much as, say, many other artists of the time.
