Dearest puzzlers, We thank you for your prayers; our son came home from the hospital yesterday evening. Recovering will take a little time as he is exhausted from the ordeal. Praise God for all of his blessings.

Glad he is home and can get rest. Hospitals are just not restful places.

Jingles, He went to the dentist with a bad tooth and had an abscess on his gum. The dentist ignored the abscess and dug a piece of broken tooth from our son's gums. The abscess became infected and within a day and a half our son's neck and upper chest had become so swollen he very nearly couldn't breathe. The swelling in his mouth was so bad his tongue was forced up into the roof of his mouth. His windpipe was being constricted by the swelling. The infection spread between the muscles behind his jaw, down into his neck and into his chest. He had seven drains in his neck and two in his back to drain the infection. One of the drains in his back was behind his heart and the other drained fluid away from his lungs because the fluid was constricting his breathing. To say the least, he was VERY sick. Everyone's prayers have meant so much to us and we extend a very heart-felt thank you.

There are very few dentists who will do a procedure when you have an infection/abscess because it can get into the blood stream so easily. You might want to consider having the dentist cover at least some of the medical expenses.

Aknan, We plan to have the dentist cover a great deal.

Good for you! Stand your ground on this, too; people can be very slippery, especially when their pockets are involved. Blessings on you and your family.

Trynfindit, is there a legal aid or counseling service in your area? I think it may be called an ombudsman. I pray a solution can be found for this and also give prayers of thanks that your son is getting healthy again.

Trynfindit, how's your son doing now?

Hi rahrah, thanks for asking. He went through quite a difficult time but with God's healing hand he is recovering. The physical scars are looking better but he has residual pain and frequent spasms on both sides of his neck and at the incision/drain sites on his back. He has filed a lawsuit against the dentist and before too long it appears the lawsuit will go to trial. The whole event has been very difficult on him.

Good luck with the lawsuit. At the very least he should be awarded all medical costs and time lost from work--not to mention PAIN AND SUFFERING.
You don't often hear of something going very wrong from a dental visit but when it does it goes very wrong.

Glad to know he's on the mend. It's been a trying time for you all, I'm sure. Continuing to pray.

Little chance that this will be confused for a budget hotel chain. My experience with Bavaria has been Munich, the train between Zurich and Munich, Munich and Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich, and the ICE train from Munich to Hamburg through Ulm. My Munich experiences usually ended up with me getting lost - there's a lot of curvy streets and beer consumption.

Always wanted to go to Bavaria and Austria. I tried to help an elderly woman ahead of me at the checkout at the grocery. She announced she needed assistance.

Beautiful little country church. My husband and I raised four wonderful children. They were all baptized and went to catechism classes, bible school and Sunday school and church. Now they are all married and I lost my husband and for health reasons I can't always make it to church. I'm by myself and listen to my sermons on tv. I was very devoted for nearly sixty years though. I pray that being 89 years old the Dear Lord will forgive me. God bless

Jingles, it doesn't really sound like there is anything to forgive. You are doing all you can and that's all God asks of us.

Jingles I am 88 will be 89 in January
I don't get to church often and I miss it like you
I went most Sundays when I was able
I'm sure you did too
I don't drive anymore
I pray God will forgive me also
