Is that near Placerville? If so, I used to take my kids there to pick apples every Fall when we lived in Tahoe!

No, the Apple Valley, CA, I'm referring to is between Los Angeles and Barstow on Interstate 15, which is the road folks from California take to get to Las Vegas, Nevada. The area is known to the locals as the High Desert and/or the Victor Valley. Surrounding cities are Victorville, Hesperia, and Adelanto. The township of Apple Valley became famous when Roy Rodgers and his wife, Gale Evans, lived there. Big museum, etc., but it was moved to Branson, MO, and is now defunct. Even old stuffed Trigger was sold (I think).

Oops! I erred. Not "Gale Evans" but "Dale Evans". The old brain slips now and then.

I've always thought Nashville would be a place where the best country music could be found in all of the U.S. Love music, and country is the new rock. Almost went to work in LV years ago. It sure has grown these last 20 years! Now, with the economy busted, half-finished hotels stand with cranes standing by, as if ready to lift building materials to finish the job.
