The chair doesn't look comfortable to me. Maybe it's just because of my age and my ailments! My parents used to have 2 chairs like that. They called them "wing chairs". Why-- I don't know.
When you sat in them, the sides came around you like wings folding. Some are really comfortable, but most aren't. Newer ones are usually better, but still not my favorite. Give me a rocker anytime!
Nice puzzle. Looks like a nice place to relax but what is that on the back part of the seat of the chair? Maybe a worn out place where people sat too long.
