Now you've gone and done it......I realllly want a big piece of my Grandma's pumpkin pie with big dollop of whipped cream on top. By the way anyone remember when Pumpkin bread became popular? I remember in the early 60's people using the metal coffee can we had then to make it in.

I checked. "The Coffee Can Baking Book" says that baking in coffee cans started in the early 1900s. I remember it being a 'fad' thing to do in, I think, the 60s and 70s? Don't know when pumpkin bread became popular.

Speaking of pumpkin bread, I have a great recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Even my daughter who doesn't like pumpkin loves this bread!

I would be happy to share. Here it is:

CHOCOLATE CHIP PUMPKIN BREAD

3 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 cups cooked or canned pumpkin
1 ¼ cup vegetable oil
1 ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. In another bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, pumpkin and oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in chocolate chips,

Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 60 to 70 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.

Enjoy!

My Aunt Kay made the MOST DELICIOUS pumpkin pies when I was young. My family agreed. She died at an early age.

Yes, but can see and smell the smoke. We are badly in need of rain to douse the fires and not to mention keeping our gardens alive. Hugs 123bunny.

That took some doing, getting the letters done so nicely plus the words on the pie so evenly.
