Lots of bits and pieces. I'd hate to be the one that has to clean up that mess.

Not an easy one to do in the 300 Classic. I, however, am glad it's done and probably won't lay eyes on this again until 2021. Whew!

This new monitor is wider than the square one that died on me and it is distorting the puzzle pieces. It is also much brighter than the last one and I have tried to google changing the brightness but it give funny instructions which don't appear to be for Microsoft OS system I have (10). I guess it is just teething problems and I will figure it out.

"I'm not really sure why. But...do you stop loving someone just because they betray you? I don't think so. That's what makes the betrayal hurt so much - pain, frustration, anger...and I still loved her. I still do."
– Brandon Sanderson

I know how he feels. Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Aussie you will get your monitor figured out soon, you are a smart woman. I know how that feels too even though I've been married for almost 44 years. Hang in there girl sometimes things take a long time to become easy enough to live with. Still trying to come to terms with some things myself. Take care and be safe. Will write to you about the hysterectomy.

Son says your computer & your monitor have compatible with each other...that you need the right cables & settings for what you computer can handle.

Aussie, often the monitors have controls underneath the edge that include a brightness control you can just turn up or down. Wouldn't that be an easy fix? Hope yours is one of those. The monitors I have had have worked fairly independently of the computer system in terms of settings like brightness, contrast, etc.

Just walked into sons room & he now has 3 monitors + his laptop all running & you can see a small difference in each one monitors since they have been purchased at different times. His laptop is running all of them. He just got the new one today.

I usually know computer equipment well. Without knowing what monitor brand - I suggest you contact the electronic dept. where you purchased it. Tell them that it's making the screen distorted. You could contact this site as well. If you go to a store I'd bring a pen and note pad with you. Jot down what the computer tech tells you. You could call them and explain your situation as well. Hope that helps!

It seems to be working - am holding my breath lol (but not for too long). Everyone has been warned to stay inside today because of the heatwave, think it is the first time I have ever heard that warning. Very warm in this room, so out to my pergola to try to keep cool. Usually get a lovely breeze through there. Hope none of you have been affected by the terrible weather you seem to be having in the USA, complete opposite of ours. Hugs.

I've used the jiffy mix but don't recall jiffy mix for blueberry muffins. Duncan Hines, Pillsbury and Betty Crocker are the ones that make muffin mix. Was in the hospital a month ago. Now I have to go see two different doctors. More tests as well. Have had two tests done and both weren't fun!

Carolsapple, I saw some jiffy mix blueberry muffin mix in the store just last week. Was looking for the corn meal muffin mix to make some tamale pie when I saw it. Hope your tests aren't too difficult and the results are conclusive, giving the very best news possible. God be with you and strengthen you through it all.

Carolsapple glad you got your tests done, I know they couldn't have been fun but they had to be done, praying for the best results possible. Nlbuchanan tamale pie sounds wonderful, have not had it for years. Think I will make it tomorrow for dinner. You all be safe.

The two tests - I haven't done them. I work part time - help two elderly women. Drive them to their appointments. I told the daughter that I had to get these tests done. Oh they said yeah that's fine. Then she calls me and says oh could you take me to the store or whatever she needs. A month ago I wanted to Ugh! because I was in the hospital. Hubby calls her and tells her and then she says oh could you or c take to see a dog breeder? I didn't know Jiffy made blueberry muffin mix. Have a recipe for corn pudding. Corn muffin mix, eggs, creamed corn etc. Very yummy - everyone devours it! Had two tests done that were quite unpleasant!

Hi darambo, had a huge storm last night so didn't get on here. Finally got the monitor working properly but not before I had to call in another tech. Hugs.

I have a Windows 10, also. On the lower left corner of the monitor, select what is probably the 3rd small icon down. Shaped like a spikey wheel. This controls settings and will take you to that. Click on system (display). This takes you to customize your display. The second choice there should be "adjust brightness level". Use mouse pointer to slide the vertical indicator a little to the left. That decreases the brightness level. Hit apply. Do not be tempted to change anything else just now. I did when my computer was new and I had to do puzzles sideways. Come on, Aussie, you can do this to save you eyestrain.

Hi retirenow. thank you for the advice, however for some reason I cannot find that slider even though I follow explicit instructions in Google on how to change the brightness. There is a button on the back of the monitor to do this, but after seeing how much trouble the tech had who installed it for me with that button, I decided to let well enough alone. I finally got a tech in who fixed it in less than two minutes, but forgot to ask about the brightness and I think I have spent enough on getting this monitor and getting it to work. So will leave it the way it is. Hugs.

Don't know what brand it is - but you can google the answer in a search enginge. You can even look it up in Youtube. You could call the manufacturer and ask for help. You call to give them the brand and model number of your monitor. You call the tech guy and ask him. We had to call our cable company because our tv wasn't working. We had to reset it and they helped us. Controls are usually on the bottom or the side. If I knew what brand I could research the answer and then tell you. Good luck aussie.

It is a Samsung, but don't know the model. Hugs.

Feb 16, 2017
You could contact Samsung and ask them for help. I found one answer for the brightness. Go to menu on your remote and then hit brightness. I found this on Youtube. After going to the site, at the top there's a search bar. I typed in fixing the brightness on a Samsung monitor. You can even call them. I've talked to a Samsung rep via online chat. I had a Samsung product but it was an appliance. Great support!

When you purchased your new monitor the sales rep didn't ask you some questions? What OS (operating system) are you using. Then he would have asked the software and version. This is for the different size plugs. You could take a picture of your new monitor and go into a computer store and ask. You could go into the store where you purchased it and ask for help. They can look up the model. Or you can hire someone to come and change the brightness. In Samsungs website there's a section named community.

Yes I'm feeling much better. I was diagnoised with severe anemia. I was put on iron tablets and a stomach med. I had all of the symptoms and one thing I did was really weird.

I could never get a feel for using pastels in my coloring books. The ones that were given to me are oil pastels and seem very much like crayons, which I don't care for either. My "medium of choice" (right term? ) is colored pencils. An artist I am not!

God bless you all.

We each have our favorites. I love pastels but also love acrylic paints. I sometimes do colored pencils. What I wish I had talent for is watercolors. I am too timid for them I think.

Feb 12, 2017
Pixi, try the watercolour pencils. They are fun! I use a variety of mediums in my colouring. You should see my basket of them!
Take care and be safe all. God bless.

Thanks, Taffi. I think a friend gave me a few but I haven't had the energy to try them yet. Winter robs me of any ambition. I just want to hibernate.
