Not only are the headaches finally gone (after almost 8 months!! ), but the prescription is no longer necessary too! Am feeling very blessed! :-)

Not much that is newer has much charm. Usually the items are more poorly made than those of old. Clothing sold in department stores is inferior to that which was sold in the 50's and 60's. There are threads that need to be trimmed before it is worn for the first time. Many blouses and dress shirts aren't sewn down where the fabric is folded over. This basically gives the garments a sloppy look. Even houses are often shoddily put together. My house built in 1894 is very well constructed. It has stood the test of time, but many new ones will not.

I agree Retirenow14! Our family owns a vacation home that was built in the late 1800's. Wouldn't trade it for anything! ;-)

There was talk of dropping Saturday delivery for a while. So far so good., Aussie.

Email makes a big difference in the postal service.

Yeah, it leaves more room for junk mail. I asked a postman why the post office didn't somehow regulate all of the junk mail and he said it was how the post office made money!

Besides that, without junk mail, how would we know on what to spend the money we don't have, if we had it?

I like junk mail. Some of it is entertaining and the rest makes me feel like I'm not invisible.

What, aussie, did I take my grammar instructor's rule to never end a sentence with preposition too far? Sometimes I really struggle with that one!

Without junk mail, how would we know what to spend the money we don't have on, if we had it? I don't think that's any better but I think you all got the idea the first time. Hugs to you, too.

All my 'junk mail' goes directly from the mailbox to the garbage can.

Thanks nlb, I did "get it" the first time and I think recently they did away with that grammar rule of never ending a sentence with a preposition. Thos that get me with advertisers and TV presenters is that they use the two words "exact and same" together and they mean the same thing and should not be used together in the same sentence, as do the words "reason and why" and presenters on Australian TV do it all the time. The other thing is that most of them do not know the difference between bought and brought. What kept me on the straight and narrow in school was that bought is the past tense of buy (vowels after the "b") and brought is the past tense of bring, both have consonants after the "b" and herein ends your lesson for today hahahahah. Grammar has taken a nose dive since the internet.
Australia isn't the only place it's happening. In the USA the favorite redudndancy in print is "continue on."
My father was a stickler for lay and lie but nobody pays attention to that difference here either and you seldom see "were" after "if" any more.
Finally I go crazy that you still hear nucular instead of nuclear. To me that's like pissghetti.
