My Mum is arguably one of the best Knitters in the UK, Unfortunately at 78 her hands are suffering a little. I should film her knitting for prosperity, she is amazing. I on the other hand completely kak handed:-\

Stsgp would love to see that film. Don't mean to sound dumb but I am not familiar with saying "kak handed ". What does it mean? Got an idea of what it means but would like to know for sure. Thanks and be safe

I will film her when I go home at Christmas. Kak handed (I'm not sure if I spelt it correctly either:-\) means alas that I'm not much good at the fine motor skills required for craft skills, such as knitting painting, decorating a cake etc. I think a video of me trying to knit would end up on the comedy shows.

When I was growing up, "cack-handed" meant you were left handed and we all knew left-handers were clumsy. I believe the term originated in Scotland several centuries ago.

Thanks for showing the correct spelling. I don't remember it being for left handed but I have no doubt that is the origin. My aunt and cousin are left handed luckily today many implements i.e. scissors are designed for them, this is probably why they struggled. In my Aunts day they would try to force the kids to be right handed, thankfully that has stopped.

Sisgp and Akan thanks for answering so quickly. Well I'm definitely Kak or cack handed LOL!!! Although I'm not left handed.....maybe that would help. Would truly like to see that film Sisgp. Tell your Mom you love her while you have the chance to. That's the thing I miss most...even at 66 I miss being able to say that to my Mom. Both of you be safe and thanks for the answer.

Lovely shades.

My friend who had the extensive surgery and for whom I asked for prayer, is doing really well. The prayers have helped and so has her positive attitude. She will be having reconstruction surgery towards the end of September so I am sure your continued prayer will be appreciated. The surgery went well and the cancer was contained praise God.

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

The Lord is not through with your friend. He has plans for her. It is all His will in our lives. I will continue to pray for your friend. I'm glad she has a positive attitude. Great news!

For all of you who generously prayed for me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Still have radiation and reconstructive surgery ahead of me, then a 5 year stint of estrogen therapy (pills), but your wonderful support will get me through that, too.

There is a t-shirt that says "Finish Cancer", with the second "I" in finish and the "can" in cancer in red. - I can finish cancer. Mine says "I did."

Thank you all, many hugs and prayers for all of you. Especially you, aussie.

I agree! If I could have a sweater made with the lavender color yarn, I would be one very happy camper! Have a wonderful day, cannj!

All those colors together would make a pretty afghan. Don't crochet anymore...my fingers aren't real flexible of late and I'm busy working at my local library anyway.

Back in the day the sight of new yarn would make me break sweat. I knitted so much the doctors told me if I wanted to get over my back pain I'd have to quit. My first response was "Cut off my hands" but after a year or so of repetitive motion stress pain, I did give it up. Gave all my yarn, books and needles to a friend because it was the only way to stop myself. Addicted? Ohhhh yeah.

But how wise of you to realize what you had to do. Good for you! That took strength and commitment to getting better. Blessings!
