I'm from Montana where Fish, Wildlife have moved Wolves into Yellowstone Park. I wasn't against that. I like that we have wolves back like we should have. Yes it is legal to shoot them if they get into someones cattle, sheep or other farm or ranch animals.

You've got flat lands, hills and mountains. All sorts of trees. Friendly people. Snow and cold in the winter and warm to hot in the summer. We have lakes and rivers. We have our rainy season just like the snow. We just had about 2 to 3 foot of snow on the ground. It has warmed up enough to melt most of it. I had a mini lake/ice rink in my front yard. Lots of fun. haha

I've been to over half the states in the US but haven't made it to Montana. Sounds like a good place.

Wonderful to see more Montanans here. I grew up in Billings, but left and only make it back to visit. Now 2 sisters, mother, son, and granddaughter are there. I guess we'll be traveling back even more now.

I saw a wildlife show on Alaska where they were trying to figure out what wolves found to eat as there weren't any big game animals in that particular area. Turns out there were huge numbers of rodents (I think picas) and that's what they were eating. So sometimes wolves are not the enemy. This wolf looks well fed. What a gorgeous coat.
Wishing you all plenty of the necessities of life.

Picas and ground squirrels keep a lot of our larger carnivores going all year round. They have as many calories as an extra large cheese pizza (according to several park rangers I know) and everything from bears to wolves to large cats (lynx, bobcat) make meals of them. The pica, by the way, harvests grasses all summer and stores them in its burrow to eat during the winter months.

You made me laugh, aknan. I needed that. Someone had a Mass said for my son and my husband and I went and I've been crying all day.

How is Barbaranne's leg and was it you Aussie who had a bad ankle which was all swollen up? I can't remember for sure but I'm wondering how you are. I hope you're both doing ok I had a tooth pulled Monday. "ouch"

Today is the day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it.

Jingles my leg does not improve, I've had another 2 weeks of antib's which have not help, and for now I've said enough is enough and refuse any more. When I was nursing I was taught that if they did not work in 2 weeks change them. I have 6 out or 8 weeks on anti'bs so I think my body needs a rest. Thank you for asking.

After I had cancer surgery my incision was very slow to heal. I also got infection in the wound. Anyway, they brought in a "wound nurse" who specialize in problems of that kind. Do you have access to that kind of help? She was very helpful.

Jingles,
I have "Today is the day the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it" printed and hung over my kitchen doorway.

Barbaranne, I agree with iawoman1. Isn't there some kind of specialist available to care for your leg?

Hi Jingles, yes re the swelling. It goes down overnight, but had a couple of large swollen places under each knee which I treated with sorbelene cream with a little crushed cloves rubbed in. They are now almost gone, but the ankle keeps swelling. Didn't get on here yesterday as was not feeling very well. Feel better today and have a nice rain falling which is really good for the garden. Hugs.

Barbaranne, it just makes my heart ache that the doctors can't make your leg any better. Would leeches help? I know it sounds crazy and yucky but I've read some amazing things about the little creatures.

Trynfindit, leeches and maggots are only of use if the ulcer is gangerous and I greatful to say that mine is not as bad as that, and God willing it will not get into that state again. You are all so kind being so concerned and I love you all for it and the many prayers that I feel are going heavenward.
May God bless you all.

This majestic guy doesn't look scary at all. Maybe because he's not crouched down ready to spring on his prey and I can't hear him growl. A lone wolf never looks as scary as a pack.

God bless you all today and every day.

Mexican Gray wolves were almost extinct...the few remainders were rounded up and bred...now the Fish & Wildlife Service has them on the Endangered Species List but it's still legal to kill them....very confusing. Poor critters are just trying to survive.

I agree, they're just trying to survive in a world that is fast consuming what little territory they have left. Wonder if we'll ever figure out we're all in this together? The more lives we eliminate for our 'convenience', the more we endanger our own future.
