Can't eat honeydew - I'm allergic to something in it that makes my throat swell shut!

I remember a watermelon stop on a trip from North Carolina to Texas to my Navy Dad's next assignment, we stopped on a hot summer day at an advertised watermelon stop. We sat at a slightly tilted table and were served slices of watermelon (as many as we wanted) --- and as we ate, the excess rinds and juices slid down the table to a tub on the ground at the end of the table! How refreshing!

I used to like melons. Now they make me burp so much I taste them all day long! Not so enjoyable any more.
