Never had marzipan. Don't know what it is....don't know what it's made with....don't know anything! Ha Ha.

I've tried ordering online, but it comes from far away and not always as fresh as it could be. I don't know of any retail in the US. Not near me anyway.

I found it in Germany and the Scandinavian countries. Have never seen it in the US, except in speciality catering displays.

A memorable experience with marzipan. I was on a church group trip to Europe. On my birthday the group provided a lovely cake and I was invited to make the first slice. I had a huge knife and inserted it in the middle of the cake --- or tried to! I tried hard --- to no avail. Finally a waitress came over and explained. Cakes have a layer of marzipan just under the frosting. The marzipan was my nemesis! They cut the cake in the kitchen and we all enjoyed a new experience with birthday cakes!
