I tried to get an updated kangaroo count online, but no exact figures were to be found. Some sources say that a third of Kangaroo Island was destroyed; other estimates read a half billion to a billion animals, kangaroos included, are gone. Animal rescuers and caregivers are very busy. God bless the elementals!

The fires have been a real tragedy both in the U.S. and in Australia. The wildlife destruction in Australia is hard to get your mind around.

The fires were a tragedy beyond comprehension. You're right, vmarie, God bells the elementals.

From Wikipedia: An elemental is a mythic being that is described in occult and alchemical works from around the time of the European Renaissance, and particularly elaborated in the 16th century works of Paracelsus. According to Paracelsus and his subsequent followers, there are four categories of elementals, which are gnomes, undines, sylphs, and salamanders. These correspond to the four Empedoclean elements of antiquity: earth, water, air, and fire, respectively. Terms employed for beings associated with alchemical elements vary by source and gloss.

Elements, and that doesn't make sense, either. At this point in time, I have absolutely no idea what I was trying to say. Apologies to all.

The decimation of the wild animals of Australia is so upsetting. Hopefully, as the trees and plants rebound, so will the animals.

I just looked up some videos of roos swimming. They are quite good at it and swing their tail for propulsion like a gator swings its tail. Cool!

Love doing animal puzzles.

This has nothing to do with animals but loved it.
My son was spending too much time playing computer games, so I said, "Son, when Abe Lincoln was your age, he was studying books by the light of the fireplace." He considered this for a moment and replied: "When Abe Lincoln was your age, he was The President of the United States." from Bored Panda
