As a kid, 5th or 6th grade, I was allowed to eat my dinner in front of the TV also. Difference was I watched "Space Patrol" and "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" Guess that is probably a generational difference! It was probably in the early 1950's. Yup, I'm old.

Hi LuvsWesterns....what a nice Mom. I could see tv from where my chair was at the dinner table. TV was on, but sound turned down. I ate fast. LOL

HI hockeyfan -- I was a finicky eater, and because of medication, low bloodsugar possibilities, and growth concerns, I had to eat everything on my plate. I think Mom planned it so that it was that way, because part of the agreement for me to be able to finish my meal there was that I'd eat it all. I also remember Flash Gordon being a favorite program, and all the westerns -- Gene Autry and Lash LaRue to name two more. Westerns have been my favorite reading genre for many years, and I probably started reading them from the fond memories of all the Westerns I watched on TV through my childhood, youth and young adult life. Hope this note finds you happy and well.

Lydiagintn, Thanks knew it was Mr. Green somthing...my brother was the one that watched (he is 8 yrs. younger). So we watched his favorites. Then with my children we went thru the Muppets and Little House on the P...., Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and then the oldest grandchild we got to do Barney. (Now I watch very little TV except for the News and Weather.)

It's a wonder we get anything to grow, the next thing will be 100 degree temps. This time of year our a/c is on one day and heat on the next.

Sure! Loved the Lone Ranger and Tonto! They are still on TV in the middle of the night along with Roy Rogers, the Rifle Man, and Ed, the Talking Horse and many others. You need to be an insomniac or some kind of night owl to watch them. I especially like Murder She Wrote, I love Lucy, and The Golden Girls to name a few.

Murder She Wrote was one of my favorites. Don't think I missed one of them. Only watch news & weather and part of some of the Thunder Games.
Usually not the end they always seem to loose if I watch the last of the game.

Most current television is so awful. My hubby and I check out movies and good programs from our local library. We love a lot of the British detective shows, period pieces, dramas, etc. National Geographic programs and specials are available and travel programs - stuff like that. There are only two or three things we watch on regular tv (besides the news).

Love all those old black and white TV shows! Remember the Tube swivel TV? They had transistor tubes in the back of the TV. Had to wait 5 mins for them to warm up. And the rabbit ears! Round dials for UHF and VHF! Watching Perry Mason tonight. Shirley Temple movie was on early this evening "The Little Princess". A favorite. Have a great night. :)
