It looks like he is facing to the right --- with a rather dainty mouth and a small adjacent eye. But what is the other round black thing on his rear? Rear view "camera"?

Haha yes - rear view camera! AND it's spitting out eyeballs to scout around too - it's a paranoid fish all right ; )

It's to confusse predators. They aim for his tail, thinking it's his head, and the lucky fish swims away.
