I'd just love to relax like this today but it is the Longest Day for the Alzheimer Association. I will be spending 12 hours (I hope) Along with the rest of my family as a pledge I made to rid us of this terrible thing that strikes some of the most wonderful people. My mother is one and all day every thing I do will I will be thinking of her and what it has done to her life.

Bless you, toadalove! I've taken care of one lady with Alzheimer's (may she rest in peace) and it was almost heartbreaking. My aunt was deep into it when she died last summer and I can see my mother developing early signs. Best wishes to you.

You are a blessing you know. Thank you for helping others. My grandfather lived with Alzheimers for the last 6 years of his life. It was so sad to watch him change. He was always hardworking and loved us so. Miss him still.

I want to thank you all for all the comments you shared regarding Alzheimers. Our wonderful family did it's part. We have had emails zingging from Coast to Coast and we all worked, walked, swimmed, biked and so much more yesterday. I put in my 12 hours and enjoyed every second of it. My furry kids were with me most of the time as if cheering me on. My 3 year old granddaughter was with her mom and my niece peddling to make smoothies and making poeple smile. We are as a family in this until there is a cure! Love you all!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother! It's such a devastating disease. God bless and prayers to you. Just try to remember who she was before and know that she is in there somewhere and just can't come out. Love her anyway even if she is a stranger to you, she still needs compassion and love. Much love to you too!

Thank you! I send mom a card every week. She may not remember who I am but she does enjoy her cards. It's not about her remembering me, it's all about keeping her happy!

I tatted a shamrock for her using the shuttles that she used to use. I also tatted a string for it to make a necklace of it for her. Yesterday my sister sent me a picture she took of her wearing it. What a treat for me. For Easter I painted a card with a traditional Pysanka on it. I sure do hope she likes it!

Even though I know it's one chance in a million, after all the tsunami's I don't think I could ever relax on a tropical beach. I wish I could. It looks like heaven.
