Beautiful mystery today

At the end of this road there is a big white house waiting for me with a grand layout of chicken and dumplings with apple pie for dessert! My aunt will be in the kitchen and Uncle Frank will be out on the porch with his pipe. Hector, the big old hairy pup, will be snoozing beside my uncle. Who knows where those rascally cousins are, no telling! You watch, tho', they will promptly show up just as we are sitting down to eat!

Sounds like the opening to an episode of the Waltons. We used to love that show. We had a life like that for the few years we lived in the Catskills...but I was the aunt for my husband's nieces and nephews.

One of his prettiest is Matthew's song. It always makes us cry as our son was Matt and he died too.

Judy.........How could I have forgotten Annie's Song? For some reason I have "I Shot 2 Ducks" running around in my head. There is a lot of room for it to roam around in there. LOL

That's funny. There is in mine, too, but you'd keep tripping over all the info I used to know that fell out of the filing cabinets and lies in a mess on the floor.
My husband used to sing Annie's Song to me. He doesn't have a great voice but I love his choice of songs.

Such a peaceful scene hope there are no bulls hiding in the trees lol

"One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood." Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I have just been talking to my best friend and she is the only one I know who can make you laugh from caterpillars, toads and frilly lizards eating her prized plants. She is a very funny lady and we have shared a lot of laughs over the years.

Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Cereal bowl and soup bowls would be OK though, wouldn't it, Aussiesapphire?. And gravel roads are far better that dirt roads during the rainy season.

I think I lost the train of thought here, Parson. Understanding - friends with caterpillars, toads and frilly lizards - I can understand the connection there, but add cereal bowl and soup bowls and you totally lose.

Aussiesapphire was concerned about bulls hiding in the trees. That's why I made my comment. Just other kinds of bulls [bowls]

There's a big apple tree with a rope and tire to swing on. Grandma is sitting on the porch cleaning green beans while Grandpa is in the garden getting corn on the cob and you can sure smell the chicken simmering on the stove. Apple pies are sitting in the window cooling. Can't wait til grandma gets the dumplings in the chicken. Big picnic table sitting under a tree waiting for the food. Such a beautiful, peaceful, sunny day. John Boy is cranking the ice cream maker. Oh, I'm so hungry.

The road to my chilldhood home looked much like this, except it was very straight until it took a fork to the left. The trees on the right shaded a goat farm with a couple of shetland ponies. The weeds along the left side of the road hid a nest of "yellow jacket" wasps - one of which got stuck in my sisters hair and stung her to try to make her let it go. If you continued straight instead of turning left toward my house, you would reach the home of a family with 12 children and several horses. We children all played together in the woods between our two houses Such lovely memories.

Wishing you all rainbows today.

It's All in the Balance by Pixipixil
You can't have a rainbow without some rain.
You can't have a healing without some pain.
It's a myst'ry of life that's hard to explain.
It's like a seesaw of yin and yang.
That from all goodness evil sprang
Will puzzle sages till time's end.
I think perhaps once we are dead
We'll see creation has been spread
Between the poles of good and ill
And there life will be mixed until
Creation has a place no more
And we have entered heaven's door.

Ha! Good one "sun shower" I live in the desert, and have never heard that one. I'll be sure to remember it when we hit 115 degrees in a few months.

Rahrah, we have clients in AZ and HI who tell us they had to shovel 6" of sunshine off their porches - just rubbing it in, since we're here in AK.

Well, rah rah, out where you are you are lucky when the rain even reaches the ground. My parents lived in AZ and you could see the rain falling from the clouds and never getting all the way down. But in "monsoon" season the place got drenched. I'm surprised you never heard the term sun shower. Maybe it's a regional term.
