You may quit laughing at my post about the weather here. Even the flowers stay confused here. My daffodils stay confused, usually end up blooming in the snow.

Hi Hockeyfan! Spring? I think that is down the road a bit. We're under a freeze warning for tonight. Plants are covered over or brought indoors. Keep warm. :)

Good morning tomandray. Yes, Spring is wishful hoping I'm afraid. :) I've been watching the FL weather, and sure isn't typical FL weather. We are in for another artic blast. All this cold weather this winter makes me wonder what our summer will be like. We are keeping warm by dressing in layers. You keep warm too. :) Glad you are feeling better. :)

Spring is 2 months away here. Funny though I am already thinking about my veggie garden.

Running out of layers...dripping water again! It's suppose to go up to 50's-60's for us this weekend then get cold again! Noticed the Texas coast area was getting bad weather and cold! Hard to believe that we had 52+ inches of rain (2nd most for us) average is about 1/2 that and now we are back in a burn ban, but I can skip the snow and deal with the rain.

Hi CatLadyOKC. Sure hope we don't have a major flood here in the Spring. Our ground is saturated already. Then all the moisture north of us will come down the Ohio River, that has been out of its banks all Nov., Dec. and this month. Yes, I saw the Texas coast. Not good. Keep water dripping, dig deeper for layers to stay warm.

Hi toadalove, I slipped on the ice today getting the mail, didn't fall, but think I may have cracked a bone on the side of my foot. Have it wrapped and it feels better. Hard to walk on it. I'm thinking spring, thinking spring, thinking spring. The ice is so dangerous. Everyone with ice be so careful.

Hi Hockeyfan! I just read your post to Toadalove. So sorry to hear you've hurt your ankle slipping on ice. For future reference, slip on some old wool socks over your shoes or boots before going out on ice. The traction of the wool will stick to the ice. Try it out. My grandfather told me this little tip years ago in Belgium. Hope you feel better. :)

Hi tomandray, What a fantastic idea. When I go after mail today that is exactly what I will do. Sun is out again and we still have about 2" ice left and it will melt top layer and that's what makes it so slippery. I will pass your info on to others here in our development. God bless your grandfather with his wisdom! I'm feeling much better this morning.

I did not know about the sock thing either but sure will try it! Sounds like geat idea! We have about 4" of snow on the ground here and more coming but they say we well be warmer next week sometime. Refuse to drive on these snow and icy streets. I have 4 wheel drive but do not trust the other guys. Stil thing SPRING!

Don't blame you for not driving on icy roads. I, like you, don't trust the other drivers. Very scary. I'm still thinking SPRING! :)))))

May have to try that and see about getting some that would slip over my husband's shoes & and his crutch because it will also slid out from him.

It's funny but I slipped on the ice yesterday too. Fortunately did not land hard and broke my fall a bit with my hands. We have had 3 feet of snow here in the last week and it is snowing again today.
My neighbor broke his shovel. I just let my car sit there and it should be warming up by the end of the week!

Hi toadalove, thank goodness you caught your fall. What state do u live in? As I get older, I must be careful not to break a bone. It's scary. Today when I went to get mail I put wool socks on my shoes and it worked wonders. Didn't slip at all. What a great idea! Have them hanging to dry out for tomorrow. :)))))))

Hi Hockeyfan, So glad the wool socks worked! :)) My grandfather was so smart. He was born in the late 1800's, lived on a farm in Belgium and was not formally educated. He had to work on the farm. But he did have a great deal of street smarts and practical smarts. He lived through two WW and had nine kids. He has passed on; so glad I had a chance to know him. :)

Hello tomandray. How heart warming. Your grandfather sounds like he was a down to earth gentleman. I, too, am glad you were able to be a part of his life. I will "never" forget his advice ever of the wool socks over shoes to keep from falling on ice. It works, and I have told many folks here about it, and had two call me today to tell me to "thank you" from them for the great advice. How thoughtful of you to share. :))))))

Hi tomandray, your welcome. I hang my socks up to dry everyday as we still have lots of snow and ice to deal with. What a perfect solution to the problem. :)
