I would like to see what an artist could create using these pretty jars of glitter.

Today the 5th of November I and a plane full of single people(male and female) flew out from London at midnight to leave England for New Zealand as emigrants. In my minds eye I can still see the bonfires scattered around the London streets, this was 54 yrs ago.I often wonder how many of us stayed. It was free for single girls but we had to stay at least two years, single men paid 10 pound and married couples 20 pounds, we had a least 4 couples who were going to marry once they got to N.Z.I have often wondered where these people are today.I have had many visits to England
but no desire to go back and live there.

Wow, you were a tough lady, Aussie. I never knew that New Zealand welcomed emigrants back in the early 60's. Were they just accepting English people, or others? Was it the beauty of the country that attracted you at that time, or a promise of employment?

My Mum knew a few people who went to Australia n that scheme. They all thrived and raised families. My cousin and her husband moved to NZ a few years ago and has never looked back.

5th s my parents anniversary, but my Dad died n 2001. Did you make it back to the UK for visits?

I came to New Zealand because I had a sister and husband with 1 child come over about 6 years earlier, they eventually had four children and my sister was very homesick, I had a job to come to but it didn't work out but I soon found another one.You had to stay at least two years in those days also the emigration department held onto your passport, if you went back sooner you had to pay for your fare out.

Interesting, thanks for the lesson:) I am sorry your sister was home sick, I came to the USA from the UK over 25 years ago, but did spend some of that time working back home, but the older I get the more I miss it and my family. Luckily the flight home not too far from New York so I am home twice a year now 2 weeks at a time.

I hate the cards that you open up and glitter falls out. The folk who do that just have no idea how irritating it is...and then you have to vacuum it immediately or it goes everywhere. And I mean, everywhere. It finds every nook and cranny somehow.

I love glitter but it gets everywhere.....

Good observation lilbc77....all it takes is some glitter to get in my kitchen tile grout and It's takes a while to get it out. It's pretty, but only where it belongs.

That one was a snap. Well, many snaps. I see it's glitter. Thought it was eye shadow. I'm sometimes tempted to buy makeup but the prices floor me.
Have a restfull Sunday. It's our nap time so Zzzzzz.
