This is so beautiful. I've avoided it for quite a while, as I thought it would be rough on my eyes, but I had no trouble with it. yah!

I had trees this winter that looked exactly like these ones. And that is frost on the trees. Lovely I think.

Snow is beautiful but I rather not have it
we don't get much snow where I live in NC
my husband loved snow cream as soon it started to fall he was out with a bowl and spoon trying to find enough to make a little bit of snow cream
makes me miss him so much when it snows

Dbnc--So sorry you have lost your hubby. I dread the day that might happen to me. Don't stay alone. Call a friend or relative and cheer yourself up.

Hey Santa. I googled it. Snow cream is snow that's been gathered, mixed with sugar, vanilla and milk to create an impromptu ice cream.

Back in the 50s I was stationed at Camp Lejeune. I assumed that since it was a "southern" state that we'd not have any snow...I grew up In MASS. and had had my share of snow. LOL. What a surprise when we were all in class at Montfort Point, NC and the snow began to fall. A few of our platoon were from Hawaii and they were SO excited; the instructor gave the class a break and told the girls to go out and enjoy the snow and then, back to business. LOL

We just go back from the grocery, getting ready for the next several days. So far we have gone from almost 70 yesterday to 36 this morning. They expect sleet, starting this evening & then snow we are sitting on the line between 2-4" &3-6" of snow which means we won't be out again until is goes away. (Our street never gets cleared-only 1 block long). But I have my puzzles & my advent calendar on my computer to entertain me. phillipcb-the calendar is from a card site from your country, love it have been with them for several years. Every thing they do is beautiful.
Good day! (can't say morning still), to all...

CatLadyOKC.......will be thinking of you with the weather. Glad to hear your staying in and being safe. We are getting rain now and under flood watch. Then rain to turn to sleet and ice before snow. That's the only bad part of winter.

Well it is 20 here, and we have snow & sleet on the ground, but we will hole up until it is gone...I had a 350 elec. bill this summer, now I will probably get my gas bill way up, but the house is warm...we are on averaging but we did have 10 extra bags of leaves & dripping the water will run the city bill up. I never can win with the utilities.

Find a good clean pile of snow
get a pan or bowl of snow
add sugar vanilla and canned milk
you want a thick mixture stir well
to the thickness you like
you could use different flavoring
but we always had vanalla
as kids that was a treat
i really didn't care for it
i liked to pick up a ball of snow and eat it
my mom would hold it over the smoke in the fireplace to get the smoke flavor

Pity we have no snow, but will give it a try, I have a recipe for rocky road and I add mint to it and it out of this world, if any one wants this I will give you it and maybe you can get addicted to it like me.

I live in NC as well and have always eaten snow cream and loved it. We could not have it from the first snow (we used to get a lot more snow than we do now). We also experimented with flavors. Chocolate was my favorite. A country favorite.

Nice to see are these winter scenes, but not in the middle of our summer, it was a nice thought, but at the moment we are all enjoying the start of our summer and the tour of Yorkshire from the french good luck to all that are entering and hope the weather stays sunny and they have plenty of onlookers to cheer them on.
Thank you team for the winter tree jigsaw I have enjoyed it.

When making snow cream. keep this in mind. Gather your snow AWAY from the edges of houses & roads. Dirt washes off both roads & roofs, & grubbies up the snow. Try not to get too deep, or you'll pick up dirt that way, too.

No-one mentioned it, but try different flavors in your snow. I like butterscotch on top or mixed in. Liquid chocolate may be harder to use than just cocoa, but it does mix better, in small portions. Best IMO is grated milk chocolate. Nuts are fun. OJ, too. Use your imagination!
