When my daughter was little, we'd tell each other : so what, kumquat! lol It was always in fun, and not a bit sassy.

Bronze for now. Not that easy but fun and pretty. I've never tasted a kumquat but if I were hungry I'd eat one kumquat may.
Wishing you sunshine in your hearts.

I've tried one before...It looked like an orange and smelled okay, so I bit right in. Ugggghhhhhh!! It was horribly bitter! Of course my memory is getting rather choppy, so I may be wrong...but I'll never eat another one.

There doesn't look like there's much to enjoy. It's mostly rind and pits. I think they are mostly used for candying and jam. Sorry you ate one one raw. Persimmons are pretty awful, too, if they aren't perfectly ripe.

As a college student I believe that my friend and I were pranked by a roadside fruitseller in Florida. He urged us to try a kumquat, as we had already purchased bags of oranges. Advised to "just bite into them"...we did. Horrendously bitter fruit. Must have been the NY license plates that egged on the prankster.

Sad that people think it's okay to do that.

We had kumquats right off the tree in Hawaii and they were sweet-tart. Hadn't had them before. I understand you stew them in sweetened water, but I don't really know.

My birds go wild over oranges. Guess they know that they need vitamin C. Sometimes I can't even get the oranges to their tray and they land in my hand and start eating it.....love the little birdies.

I got head lice from picking up a baby wren. I never touch wild birds any more.

I have never knowingly had a kumquat either. I like oranges and tangerines, though. What are the green dots on the fruit? I see the seeds but there are some odd looking green dots.

I think they're the inside of the pits that got sliced with the kumquat.

Oh. Odd looking. I've never even seen the inside of a kumquat (until now! ). Interesting food.
