Chateau de Chambord- about an hour out of Paris! I visited this castle in July!

The castles in the UK would be my favorite and so would the castles in Ireland too.

Those castles were built more for defense than beauty. This is a showplace for the monarchy, built about 200 years later than the ones in the UK.

Aknan, yes, some castles were more like palaces than fortifications. I guess it's the feisty in me that prefers the fortifications. lol

This is the Chateau de Chambord, southwest of Paris. The largest chateau in France.

Thank you for that info, lilbc77! I like learning that sort of thing. It certainly is large. I can't imagine what I would do with all that space. Lots of guests, I suppose.

Manatee if you check out their website there are all kinds of activities there for tourists. The park grounds look phenomenal. I doubt if I'll ever see it in person, but I love looking at it online.
