I love tolework painting. It's so beautifully decorative and neat at the same time. I find most "neat" artwork to be uninteresting and sterile but not tolework. It has a happiness in the art that allows for enough variation to keep things interesting.

It's because the colors are harmonious and not too dark or bright and there are no sharp corners but lots of curves.

I googled it to find more examples. I've seen it before but I didn't know what it was. You're right, often it is "too" neat and not so inspiring, but this piece is different.
For some reason this reminds me of my paternal grandmother, but I don't know why. Probably had some decoration like this that I've forgotten about. She passed away just before my 11th birthday, which was over 50 years ago.
Love flowers but I have a cat that loves them also so no indoor ones!
