I grew up in the town where the Missouri State Fair is - for whatever reasons, I never rode the Ferris Wheel. I rode many other rides, just not the Ferris Wheel (and a few others that seemed really dangerous). The only Ferris Wheel I've ridden is the one in the Prater (Weiner Riesenrad) Vienna, Austria. If you've ever seen the movie "The Third Man" with Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten, this is the Ferris Wheel where they met. You get a great view of Vienna from the top - only 212 feet (64.75 m) high.
Has anyone else noticed that lately people seem to be getting stuck on amusement park rides? Maybe it is just me. I used to love all the rides when I was a lot younger. I think if I had the chance now, I'd skip it!
Seems a lot of people are scared of the Ferris wheel I think it the thought of the swing breaking loose, but then every one has some thing they do not like at the fair.

First time on a ferris wheel was at a church fair with a guy I knew slightly. The man who ran it must have saw something because he left us on for about 5 rides in a row. Four months later my co-rider and I started dating and 40 years later we are still going around in circles. :)
