The last time I went to Europe was in 1992, before the creation of the Euro, but there were talks about creating the Euro and trying to figure how to calculate the value - how much each nation contributed to the value, etc. I think I traveled in a dozen different nations in a 3 week period of time and trying to keep track of what the exchange rates were for each nation was a struggle at times.

Each nation had different sized notes - and each nation had different methods of preventing counterfeiting. I think the Dutch currency had raised symbols to aid the visually impaired in determining what note had which value - each nation had scientists, artists, men and women on their currency - the United States is about to finally put a woman on the $10 bill - for the most part, it's usually been presidents, except for Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin.

I always thought Euros were worth more than dollars, but I was wrong. Today 1 US Dollar = 0.771177 Euro. 1 Euro = 1.29.

A Euro is worth more than a US dollar. At the exchange rate you have, it took US$ 1.29 to buy 1 Euro.

Yes! I learn about birds, places and desserts that I never knew of. Also a lot of the puzzlers give us good additional info, especially aussiesaphire.
