Great looking dragon statue. The buildings in the back look really nice too.

The roof on the left looks like a doile. I would like to visit this part of Europe. Perhaps it still retains a bit of it's original flavor and hasn't be overrun by western cultures. As a kid I loved drawing a map and a woman and man dressed in the traditional outfits of their country. Now everybody wears jeans and T's. Ugh.
Wishing you individuality today.

The description says dragon but it looks as much like a griffin (gryphon). The Medieval churches were fond of putting them around outside. Strictly speakiong a griffin is a lion body with eagle head but the photos of griffins on the web look a lot like this.

What is a doile?

A doile (or doily) is like a coaster under a glass but it is larger, lacey or crocheted and is a decorative touch to be put under a bowl, ashtray or other decorative item. It protects the finish on wooden furniture from being scratched by the bowl etc.

My mom used to tat doilies with thread. She made some beautiful pieces that I wish I still had. It was a talent that I could never do.

Love the dragon, hope you all had a good and safe turkey day. Very quiet here. Ed saw his cancer doctor Wednesday, report not so good, shots that have been keeping the cancer at bay are not working as well and he is having bladder and intestine problems. Will be running more tests soon to see what is going on. I know he doesn't feel well, but he has gotten so incredibly hard to live with, am trying so hard to remember what he is going through, but I don't know if I can get through this myself. Be safe and try to stay well. When I know more I will post and let you know.

My heart goes out to you, darambo. It's very difficult to live with someone who is always in a bad mood - and you're the closest thing to take it out on. Personal experience speaking here! I know they say God never gives us a burden we can't carry, but sometimes, I think He pushes it to the limit! My prayers for your sanity and strength to hold out and for Ed's doctor to call soon! Hugs.

My dear darambo,
I completely understand what are going through. I also went through this same with my husband. I would suggest that you find someone who can watch him for a few hours a week so you can have some down time. I didn't with Joe but now I wish I had. I pray that God gives you the strength and guidance that you need to help you through this. I also pray for Ed as he is battling this dreaded disease. Sending gentle hugs and lots of prayers.

I'm sorry you're going through this Darambo, and I hope that you are able to carve out at least 30 minutes a day to nurture yourself and do something that brings you joy. It's crucial that you take care of yourself first. Peace be with you.

Okay, we know it's a statue and it's in Slovenia. What I want to know is WHY did the Slovenians erect a statue of my high-school shop teacher?
