I love fresh bing cherries, but cherry pie filling burns my throat for some reason.

Karen, is it canned cherry pie filling or filling made using fresh bing cherries?

I can't really say since I didn't make the pies myself. The pies are usually from the bakery or at buffet style restaurants. I suspect it's canned, though.

That filling is canned, Karen, and full of preservatives to boot. No wonder the filling irritates your throat!

Yeah, I was also thinking it's probably the preservatives irritating your throat.
A man goes to a diner and orders a grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of room temperature sweet tea.
When his food arrives he takes a sip of the tea but finds it to be scorching hot.
"Ow! " yells the man, "I asked for this to be room temperature! "
"It is, sir" says the waiter "The kitchen is on fire."
