We see them alot..unfortunately most are found dead along the highways....but we did have one on our compost pile one year...i thought it was just a big cat...and I almost let my dog out to chase it..good thing a neighbor was here, and told me what it was, for we had never seen them before moving upstate..they don't call it the catskills for nothing.

He has pretty eyes, looks like he is looking for dinner. A rabbit or squirrel maybe.

Me too. I love it when my boy purrs. It lets me know that he is content and happy.

Sorry, toadalove, but sometimes they can purr if they're injured or afraid. But you'd probably recognise those circumstances anyway.

Did not know that Netta. He is just the cutest little guy and I am sure would have been dead had we not taken him in. He gives me so much joy.

Just like our little adoptee. She's thriving, and getting a bit fussy about her food! Little minx. But she is so affectionate.

I have the same thing here. He is now so spoiled and sometimes demanding. I'm just happy he has a warm home and all the attention and food he can imagine.

Do you think they know we're suckers for a hard-luck story?

Yes! But we love them just the same!

Netta and toadalove - Cats do purr when stressed or injured. I once held a cat that had been struck by a car. She was dying, but she was purring while we waited for the Humane Society to come get her. I felt honored to be able to make her last moments less difficult.

These are around where I live, but you are lucky to see one, and although I do not believe they should be hunted because they are so few and far between, as everything else spread thin in America, these beautiful BobCats are victims of overkill as well.
