Oh...can I peek? These are all pretty and the same size. I would be more interested in opening a small one (like from a jewelry store). LOL

It seems traditional wrapping is being replaced by gift bags --- which can then be reused or used for other purposes.

Pretty presents!

I've always felt it's a shame to ruin such beautifully wrapped presents. It takes some time to wrap and tape and tie, and then its all torn to pieces in a matter of minutes. Guess the end result is a wonderful and appreciated gift.

Happy birthdays to all that it pertains to

I feel sort of sorry for the folks who were born in December and January. Their birthdays often lumped in with Christmas. Sometimes their gifts get combined with Christmas gifts. NO FAIR, huh? Everyone deserves his/her own day I think. (Glad my BD is in May! )

Mine is mid January which isn't so bad. Christmas is over by then and I haven't had gifts that were combined with Christmas. Although usually everyone is tired of gift shopping by then.

Sunsetsky, I'm happy that you get a birthday day for yourself! That is good news.

Mine is December 21st and I always loved having a Christmas birthday. Everything is so festive.

My birthday is on December 31st and every year without fail my parents would say that I got my "big" gifts at Christmas and, frequently, my birthday present was wrapped in Christmas paper.

When I had my youngest daughter on Dec 30th, I made sure that our decorations were down by then, made a rule that there would be no Christmas wrap, no 'you got your main present at Christmas', no red and green used, and her birthday present was as special as her Christmas gift. Her birthday was as special to her as she is to me.

I agree, so on the morning of the 24th I stop at the Bakery to pick up my pre-ordered cupcakes, to hand deliver to nine people who's birthday's fall on the 24th and 25th December, and off I trek to delivery them. Ring the bell, hand them their own colorful gift bag, say Happy Birthday, and I'm off to the next one. If not home, I've left the bag on the threshold for them to trip over when they enter.

Everybody should have cake on their own birthday, and they are forgotten a lot of times, when older.

You know, I think most people are pretty awesome no matter where they come from or what color they are. We hear so much about the bad ones we forget that they are the minority. Everywhere we go people are kind to us and we in turn are to them.

Quick story: I attended a luncheon one day that my mother gave for a group of her friends at their retirement home. There I sat with a dozen grey-haired ladies and they teased me about hanging out with a bunch of old women. Well, I found out that those "old women", all of whom I respected to begin with, had the most marvelous lives. One was a micro-biologist, one a pilot, one an artist, several teachers of various grade levels, business owners; all wives and mothers to boot. And there sat I, learning one of the best lessons of my life. What a delightful day that was!

Trynfindit, your taking all the decorations down so your daughter wouldn't have to share her birthday with Christmas reminded me of my brother.

He always complained that I got to have the tree up for my birthday, so why couldn't it be up for his. So one year we kept the tree (artificial of course) up until his birthday - January 31st!

That's neat Karen. When my daughter got into her teens we started keeping the decorations up until Epiphany (which she liked).
