Growing up, I had a beagle named Cleopatra, Cleo for short. I don't think she would have chased a ball, I never saw her. Her favorite way of playing was sneaking out the front door when someone came in - then she would run off a bit, waiting for someone to chase her. When one of us would go after her, she would run up to a few feet of us, then turn around and run a short distance. Fortunately, she would tire of this after a while. She lived up to her name - she'd often lay in the easy chair and refuse to move.

I have the most wonderful little beagle boy. He showed up on our doorstep last summer, and no one claimed him so he is MINE! My granddaughter named him "John Doe", and we call him J.D. He is a great addition to the family, and gets along fine with his two big sisters, Patsy Lou (a little black Schipperke) and Lily (a 110 pound Chocolate Lab). We had this granddaughters 18th birthday party yesterday, and as we all sang to her, J.D. joined in and really raised the roof with his fine voice! Very funny and very loud!

How wonderful. I know that my dog and cat complete my home and most of the neighbors just love Katie my dog. She loves to go and visit the kids next door too.

Mimi, you brought back a funny memory from my childhood. My Mom had a toy poodle mix, energetic but sweet. Whenever we had a birthday to celebrate, Lady Jane would join right in with a yodel more than a howl. That was funny enough but what we found even funnier was that she never "sang" along with any other song and we tried many. I thought surely she would with the Star Spangled Banner, but, nope, only Happy Birthday!
