I loved to sew but can't see to thread the needle any more.

These would make such cute baby crib sheets. Enjoyed putting this one together.

Mother used to make the prettiest receiving blankets from soft flannel and edge them with crochet. She'd give a set of 3 to each new baby. I tried to make one and ended up using it in the dog's bed....never could do that type of crocheted edging! Dog didn't see to mind....

Lucky dog! You have my same sense of humor. Too bad you don't live in Oregon, we could be fun friends. P.S. I'm a lousy sewer, just so you don't feel so bad, and just a so so crocheter.

Growing up, I made all of my own clothes and some of my own patterns, crocheted afghans and knitted sweaters. Now, about all I make are satin pillowcases for my Dearly Beloved (his skin is very sensitive) and I have to run the machine each month for about 15 - 20 minutes to keep it oiled and running smoothly for when I do use it!

Your Dearly Beloved is a lucky guy. At least you still keep your hand in sewing to a certain extent. I don't even sew on buttons anymore. If I need any repairs done to my clothes, I trot down to my dressmaker.

Pretty patterns but not sure what I would use them for. This month is a lazy month. Only one appointment on the calendar so far!

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

Excellent quote, elijah13! I already have 3 for this month but one is for hair, so I can't complain about that one! I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist so we can see if I truly need cataract surgery. I went to another optometrist and he said that I did have 20/60 in my right eye which doesn't mean I can't drive, but to avoid driving at night which I already don't do. But I can drive! I got my driver's license when I was 40 and I was so proud of myself. It is silly I know, but I just feel like a free woman who can drive! You'd think that I would be over that, but no, I still revel in it!! Have a great day and weekend, elijah13!!

Being able to drive gives us freedom - not just of movement, but the opportunity to go and do when we please without waiting for someone else to take us there. I agree with you - we're free women when we can drive!

These days how can you live w/o your wheels unless you are in a big city or by a bus stop? My sister-in-law lived in NYC for many years and only took taxis. She had no car. Nice if you can afford it I guess.

I don't drive anymore, but one of the grandson or granddaughter's or my daughter or son will take me when I need to go.

My husband had cataract surgery about 3 months ago. As he walked into the bathroom he said " I didn't know our counter top was purple". Kind of funny at the time but we didn't realize it was so bad. He will have the other one done in about a year. That one isn't so bad. Isn't it wonderful how they can do those things so easy now days. About the time I was born my grandma went blind. Wish they had the technology back then.

Beckydent, the comment your husband said made me laugh! I am hoping that the surgery, if I end up needing it, will eliminate my use of contact lenses and being "blind" when I get out of bed! Have a wonderful day!

I had no problem when I had my cataract surgery done--about 30 years ago!

When I had one eye lens replaced there was a noticeable difference in the way I saw color with each eye. The new lens eye showed blues very brightly but tamped down the reds while the natural eye hyped the reds and dulled the blues. It was disconcerting as I consider myself an artist.
(Others do also but I don't have any work on the market.)

I don't remember seeing any differences, but that was a long time ago.
