Gracious living!
I had a friend who, when her partner died, had a hard time having dinner alone. So --- she went to her china cabinet and chose three place settings for dinner. That took care of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. All different. She went to a china shop and selected four more place settings for the rest of the week. Each night she had a different, lovely setting. It gave her something to think about and enjoy.
What a lovely way to celebrate an essentially new-found, if unwanted, independence - surrounding yourself with beauty while making new memories in pleasant surroundings. Hurrah for your friend. As a new widow, I'm doing the same type of thing and enjoying the new-found me. Grief doesn't mean you have to feel alone all of the time.
