I think that's more than one tree. It looks like a huge oak that some other tree took root on--maybe in a knotch of a big branch, and started wrapping roots around it.

In central and south Florida we have a tree called a 'strangler fig.' It does just that; it will wrap itself around a host tree. It will eventually kill the tree. By the time the host tree is dead, the strangler fig is large and strong enough to stand on its own. They like humid temperatures. A University of Florida web page says they grow in zones 10B-11.
