My hubby's aunt had heart surgery today. She had a tear in her aorta. I was hoping that it wasn't as invasive - going through the chest. They went through the groin I believe. I asked her what they were doing to her and she didn't know. I said you didn't ask any questions - answer no. She kept saying I'm fine but she had me really concerned!

Was at the Alamo when we lived in Texas during WWII. Don't remember a lot about it --- mainly what I've read. Need to go again! ( I was about 7 years old.)

Visited the Alamo. It has a nice garden and a large second building where prisoners were kept if I remember correctly. There was quite a line of visitors to wait through and it was very crowded. I'm not a history buff but my husband loved going. He remembers historical facts. Dates just don't stay with me and I even have trouble with names but I do remember geography.
Hope you all stay cool today. It's due to be 93 in upstate NY by us.

Heating up in Missouri, too. Makes me homesick for Cape Cod!

DegŁello - one of the saddest and most stirring pieces of music. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

"It's not about finding ways to avoid God's judgment and feeling like a failure if you don't do everything perfectly. It's about fully experiencing God's love and letting it perfect you. It's not about being somebody you are not. It's about becoming who you really are."

Good night and God bless. Hugs

And for Darambo -
Although we were being married in New Hampshire, I wanted to add a touch of my home state, Kansas, to the wedding. My fiance, explaining this to a friend, said that we were planning to have wheat rather than rice thrown after the ceremony.

Our friend thought for a moment. Then he said solemnly, "It's a good thing she's not from Idaho."

(Aussie's comment - for those of you who are not aware, Idaho is quite famous for its potatoes! )

I think it is strange that most of us worry about others' judgment more than we worry about God's judgment. I have finally learned to let what other people think of me fall to the wayside. My life is so much more peaceful now! Blessings.

Walking through the church/chapel (which is all that's left of the Alamo complex) is a memorable experience.

Two of my children are related to Samuel Maverick of San Antonio. He was due to be in a meeting to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico and had to sneak out of the Alamo to get to the meeting. Samuel Maverick had a ranch in SA called "The Sunshine Ranch."

When visiting this historic place, I felt like I was in church! It certainly was the prime place to see while on a trip into Texas.

Actually, marine, you were in church. "The Alamo" was a very large compound. The building that is there now was the church for the compound.
