Has to be a peparation for somehing because you can't leave banana slices in the open air.

Isn't there something that can used to keep banana slices fresh? I remember my mom using lemon juice to keep some fruit from spoiling, but don't remember if it was bananas or not.

Also works well on fresh avocado slices.

You may be right. I think I've heard that too but never believed it worked. After all the enthusiasm, wouldn't it be funny if they were all fake and made of plastic? Don't mind my sick sense of humor.

Oh, pixi, that's good! But you have a point - any time you see something that looks perfect, it usually isn't real.

For many food ads, only the food item being advertised has to be that product. For example, for an ad for butter or margarine, the butter or margarine is real, but the mashed potatoes that it's melting on could be plaster or anything else that will photograph looking like mashed potatoes.

I hear they use Elmer's Glue for the milk on cereal ads.

They refer to the actual advertised food as "hero food", in that it's made to look especially great. Mayo on each lettuce leaf is painted on with a small brush, a roast is coated with dish soap, then flamed with a blowtorch to brown it, etc. So goes our advertising world! (Of course, this food is absolutely inedible, but it's a pretty photo.)

Are you a photo stylist, aknan? I worked for ad agencies when I was in my 20's. I was an illustrator but also designed ads, booths, logos and in one case a cover photo.

No, pixi - I just read a lot. This info came from a novel called "Dazzle" about an ad agency. I find it interesting that the food we order in certain fast food places never looks like its pictures, and I was intrigued at how the photo shoots were set up. I'm actually an investment advisor - 28 years now, after 20 years in banking. No plans to retire as long as my brain holds up.

Good going. It has to be better than working for an ad agency. Your brain sounds fine to me. My uncle was in banking. He's fully retired--pushing towards 90 now.
