My husband and I had an accident today. He was making a U-turn and someone came around the corner at speed and ran into the back door behind my husband and spun us around and we ended up on the other side of the road. I was not badly hurt but my husband was. The airbag deployed and the stitching was on the outside of the bag, this did a lot of damage to my husband's shoulder combined with the seat belt which has given him a nasty graze from his shoulder to the middle of his back. The ambulance attended and I knew my sugar level had sky rocketed and I was pretty shaky. The force of the impact threw my husband against me and the right side of my body jarred. Unfortunately it looks as though the framework of the car has been damaged and may be a write-off. I am so pleased I did not get rid of my car when we got married. A lot of people came to help and restored my faith in human nature. At least we are still walking and not in the hospital, so praise God for that. It is a long weekend this weekend for Australia Day on Monday, so we have to wait till then to get things sorted out. Very inconvenient, but I know the angels were looking out for us, could have been much worse. I would value you prayers as to what will happen to my husband's car.

I just keep quoting Romans 8:28

"28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Take care dear friends. God bless all of you. Hugs.

My goodness, Aussie, that must have been a scare! I've heard of air bags causing injuries. And, those U-turns--one must be VERY careful in making them. I don't drive mhyself because of the way most people drive--it's scary. People don't stop at stop signs for pedestrians, even though pedestrians are supposed to have the right-of-way. Good healing to you both on all levels. Much love and peace being sent your way.

Aussie--so sorry. Glad you are both home and not in hospital and that you have been given help. If the first repair place tells you the car is a junker go to someone else. My husband got into a less serious accident (no injuries) two years ago and several repair places said the car could not be fixed but he found one that did fix it and it has been going fine for 2 years now. It took a bit of time for them to fix it but it was worth the wait.
Take care of yourselves. Baby eachother for a while until you feel whole again. Prayers coming your way.

Prayed for healing and as far as the car goes, God's best for you. That is a very appropriate verse for this situation. The hard part is to remember the "good" the verse promises may be for someone else. Perhaps someone will see how well you deal with it and will be drawn to God because of your accident. Can't help but hope something wonderful comes out of it for YOU. God bless.

Great scot, aussie, we do thank God that you and your husband were not more severely injured. Cars can be replaced, although I know the cost can be prohibitive, but you and your hubby cannot be replaced. Angels were certainly looking out for y'all.

Thank you all so much for your love, care, concern and prayers. It is very much appreciated. I am OK this morning, but my darling husband whose birthday it is today!!! is not faring so well. Discovered a huge rainbow coloured bruise on the side of his stomach this morning where his elbow must have dug into. I will be the allocated driver for the new few months until we see what can be done, if anything, about his car. My car is nearly 19 years old, but still runs well as I have always looked after it and got it new (first new car I have ever owned). Take care dear friends and thank you again. Will keep you informed. Hugs.

Oh Aussie! Thank God that you are alive and not in the hospital. Prayers for your husband. Maybe you can find some arnica to help out with the bruising. Take care of yourself as well. I order you both to rest up :) Sending you both healing hugs and easy recovery wishes. As to the car, may you find a good cheap model if that is the way to go.

Aussie --- My prayer on good days and not-so-good days is
one of praise --- "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." I am thankful you both are alive. Bruises will fade, pain will ease, thankfulness will go on and on that it wasn't worse. Whether it's ice or heat, rest or activity, do what makes you feel better. You have yet another reason to be thankful for each other. Peace.

Once more the love of people on this site has brought tears to my eyes. Thank you seems inadequate and I know each one of you is just so special in God's eyes. He has allowed this to happen for a reason, we are just resting in Him to see the outcome. One good thing is that our insurance company said it will not affect our no claim bonus. The fly in the ointment at the moment is because my husband said he was at fault, he has been charged with negligent driving and has to appear in court on 10 February. It is his birthday today, not a real good start to a new year in his life. Thank you again you lovely people and many grateful hugs coming your way. Hugs.

Happy Birthday to your husband, Aussie.
Mine took a tumble on the ice last week and his entire thigh on one side is black and blue. thankfully he didn't break anything. I take it yours is mostly bruises also? Those airbags are a mixed blessing.

Hmmmm. Admittedly, I am not much of a cook. What in the world are the little round red and brown thingies? Ha ha - looks like cranberries and olives? (Yum! - LOL) Also, how about that bottom left greenish lump of whatever? What is that stuff? Gosh, I sure am out of my element!
pixipixil

I thought they might be pepper corms.

Nope. too big. Olives and something else?

The little brown thingies look like capers. The bottom left greenish lump looks like ground oregano.

Jan 24, 2015
Just did a little internet research and I think the little red berries in with the capers might be red currants.

You and me both. So much easier to boil spaghetti and add a jar of favorite sauce. Or better yet, eat at an Italian restaurant and you won't have to do the dishes!
Taffi
Jan 24, 2015
I'm trying to think of something that would go into a tomato sauce. Ground oregano for sure. I thought that it might be those little tomatoes. What about tomato, basil and caper with a bit of ground oregano thrown in? So, cherry tomato and not red currant. The bigger tomatoes would be the tomato sauce.

A bit of dried tarragon is nice for a little depth of flavor.

Also, a little allspice is good if you use ground beef in your sauce. (A little allspice is good on any beef.)

The "little round red and brown thingies" are red pepper- corns and black peppercorns. The "greenish lump" is oregano. :) I make a lot of Italian food. :)) The top right item that is light green, looks like spinach noodles for making lasagna, but I would need a clearer look to be 100% certain. Hope that helps you. :) Have a great evening. :)

Saw you note the other evening, Crickett say to tell KitKat hello. Looks like we are going to have a nice week weather wise here 50's and 60"s some wind, but that is just normal in Ok, at least we are seeing the sun again. Noticed they said the first 1/2 of Jan were all temps below our nornal & look like the 2nd 1/2 is going to be slightly above normal. We both go to the Dr's. office on Tue morning (early), just our annual check in. Son is still here, they have him working out of here but may be going to send him out somewhere soon on a new project, we have enjoyed having him. He just has much more energy than we do....

Hi CatLadyOKC, It's cold here. Cold front blew through here last night along with rain. Winds today around 30mph and overcast. Temps have been up and down all month long.
Good luck at the Dr. on Tues., it always makes me nervous to get my yearly physical. :(
Your son has more energy, well of course, he's way younger than you & your husband. Get him to do the tough things that neither of you can do while he's still around. :)) Who knows when he'll be back. :) Have a great evening....I'm watching the ice skating tonight. :))

Ooo. There's ice skating? Count me in. I used to figure skate but on rollers so I like to catch the better ice competitions. Not into the exhibitions. They never do much on those. Can't believe they are doing quads now. Triples were just starting to be done when I quit. The best I could manage was a 2 and a half. Thankfully none of the women could manage more than doubles.

Hi pixipixil, I never did take to ice skating, tried many times. I'm just off balanced. But I do love to watch the artistry of the sport. There is more skating on today (Sun.) from 4-6pm eastern time. Enjoy! :))

Really enjoyed the 15 year old Nathan Chang. I think he will be our next Olympic hopeful. Many good skaters. Too bad 2nd place man cheats his jumps. Got phone call and had to stop to make supper in the middle of the best. Missed 1st place skater completely.
