"Wee, sleekit, cowerin', timorous beastie,
Oh, what a panic's in thy breastie! "
For the times he lived in, Rabbie Burns was remarkably sensitive to the natural world, don't you think?

Basinda, it's a poem, "To A Mouse". Robert Burns was Scottish, lived in the 18th - early 19th centuries, and is considered to be Scotland's national poet. Oh, yes - he also wrote "Auld Lang Syne"! And he was quite a ladies' man!!!!

The (Scottish) actor (Ian Richardson) who played Dr. Joseph Bell in 'The Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes' (a BBC drama) quoted that poem.

Mice are cute. My son had several for pets when he was small. The mice used to love sitting in my shoulder under my hair.

So I now have cpap to wear when I am sleeping, was pretty much bedridden for last couple weeks because I pulled a muscle in my upper back when I was cleaning, I have to slow down, I was always use to doing things quickly and efficiently and I keep forgetting I cannot do as much as fast as before. very frustrating. I am on new meds for depression and two for my heart.God is faithful and has strengthened me throughout. Thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts. I believe in the power of prayer and positive thinking.
I am good, I have not hung on a cross yet so no complaints. :-) Love you all.

That is not to say that you all cannot share your struggles, I use the cross as a point of comparison when I am in deep struggles, it is my personal focus and believe me that I know pain is pain and feel free to vent because it helps us all.

Basinda, I feel for you. I know how we all have to slow down as we get older. I use to be so active and can't believe how I've had to slow down. I truly believe in the power of prayer. God loves us and knows when we suffer and gives us strength to get through it. I too think of how he suffered for us on the cross so I shouldn't complain. I also believe in positive thinking and know that all will be well. Just be patient. My prayers are with you and all of our puzzle friends.
GOD loves us all. Have a good day.

Basinda, I have been on meds for depression for twenty some years. The struggle to find just the right one for you can be so hard. Then you get a new doctor or the meds don't work as well any more or whatever. You can feel like and emotional roller coaster. Hope yours work well and quickly. And there are several members of my family who have to wear a cpap at night. That alone is enough to depress you. God will help you through it all. Don't forget Phillipians 4:13!

Basinda. Hope you're soon feeling better. I know the cpap is a pain (And ugly to boot) but I know I wake up feeling a lot better with it. Hope you do do. More restful sleep means more muscle repair. God bless.

I want to encourage you,
For I know you're feeling down,
Give your burdens to the Lord
For it's there, love is found
I just want you to know,
I'm praying that the Lord
Will touch you right where you are
With the peace, you're longing for.

We are all praying for you Basinda.

I too have been taking antidepressants for 15 years. Some members of my family say you don't need those it is all in your head. Well they help me so those members of my family who are dealing with depression and don't do anything about it, there is no shame in taking medication in fact you will feel better for it.

Thank you for admitting that you are on meds for depression. It is amazing how many people suffer from it and yet so few are will ing to admit that they need help with it. I personally dont suffer from it but have had little bouts of it. It is nice to sometimes just dump or complaints or problems and let them go. Thanks to all for reading and relating. God bless.

My hubby and I both use CPAPs and we love them. True, they're not the most attractive things going but the quality of sleep PLUS the health benefits (heart, brain, etc.) make it a definite for us both. We take them along when we travel. If you have one with a humidifier ONLY use DISTILLED water. Some web pages will tell you that you can use boiled water in the humidifier tank but that's not true - the minerals are still in the water and will gunk up the humidifier tank. Distilled water can be bought very cheaply at the grocery, drug store, etc.

I look at my having to slow down this way: I've worked at top speed all my life and now I get the chance to take it a little easier. And do things that I like - like jigsaw puzzles!

I also have a ton of 'complaints'. I let myself have a pity party every morning for about an hour. Then I force myself to get up and do anything, even if I just get dressed. We were in an accident Wednesday, extremely slow and sore right now, but, we're alive and thankful. We were hit by a semi, did a 360 over 3 lanes of traffic and we were the only ones injured. Thank you up above for this. I did let myself have a pity party for a bit longer on Thursday! Prayers for you.

What is a cpap? I have problems with breathing when I sleep and have to use a recliner. I don't get the best sleep some nights. Then the next day I feel so tired I just want to cry. I drag myself thru the day until nap time in the pm. Sometimes I just have to go back to bed being awake is too painful. TBTG I don't have to work so I can do that when I need to but I hate to lose the day. Basinda my uncle says getting old isn't for sissies and one of the heartaches is no longer being productive the way we used to be. You have the additional burden of depression...God help you to find a way out of it.
You are fortunate to know His love because all the medicine in the world isn't enough without it.

Hi Basinda: I started with the CPAP about 4 years ago. I tested waking up 27 times an hour, but hated it the first few weeks. I hung on and was rewarded with wonderful deep sleep, and I sleep thru till morning, it's a blessing!!
If I travel it goes with me, and if I couldn't take it I wouldn't go!!!

A cpap regulates your breathing when you're sleeping. Sleep apnea can cause the sleeper to stop breathing, just for a bit, but it's enough to interrupt their sleeping so that either they wake up or are just lightly sleeping. You need the deeper rem sleep.

If you can do it, get a referral to a sleep clinic and get yourself checked out. Big hugs. Please do get yourself checked, pixi. You're one of the group here.

And Basinda, good to hear that you got it all sorted out. Hugs to you also.

Pixipixil, the cpap is a machine that stabilizes the air pressure of your breathing to ensure you get the necessary oxygen. The symptoms you describe definitely go with low oxygen levels so you may be experiencing this. Talk with your Dr about these symptoms and possibly having a sleep study done. The difference can be amazing.

I wrote to each of you but when I copy paste it it came out all wierd. let me try again. Logansport thank you so much you are a dear.
Nibuchanan The one I am on is Wellburtrin and so far so good and thank you for your compassion.
ginny yes it is ugly isn't it? lol thanks hon.
mamag15 beautiful poem from a beautiful soul thank you!
weenie the next time someone says it is all in your head, tell them yes it is, my brain does not produce the chemicals I need to cope so I need medicine to help with that. I get frustrated because they would never tell someone with diabetes "it is all in your head" and this is no different! but God bless them anyway lets hope they read up on it.:-D
cindyj28 It took me years to go get help and I wish now I could have those years back. sadly this can be helped with meds and therapy and it is nothing to be ashamed of because it is so much more common then people know.
I have 3 cats so the mice do not dare :-)
Trynfindt so happy you are using them and I am trying to slow down because I have worked hard all my life and maybe it is time to smell the roses :-)
Patricia37 so true! and thank you so much :-)
Needler529 Praise be to God who spared you! how scary oh my goodness!! I got chills reading that. I am so happy that you are still with us! *big hugs!

Pixipixl Please read up on it and others here have answered your question brilliantly so all I will add is obstuctrive sleep apnea means your airway closes during sleep, sometimes people do die in extreme cases. but the side affects of sleep loss are severe and please look into this and God bless you!
Jimlahar I was 12 times an hour and I heard some can test up to 100 can you imagine? Yes it is so nice to sleep through the night I have not since the 90's.and mine is going with me wherever I go too :-)
Taffi thanks for the hugs and love Taffi right back at you.

Pixipixil - CPAP stands for "continuous positive airway pressure". It has been a miracle for me and for my husband. I snore like a train if I'm not wearing mine. Hubby snores, but not as bad. But having the CPAPs has given us both the wonderful night's sleep that we both need. Please do check into it.

Aww...what a cute mouse! *from someone who is nicknamed 'Mouse' because I am so quiet and soft spoken. It is not a negative thing for me. People tend to see me as very trustworthy and loyal. I am a great listener and can keep their secrets.
