When I was baptized my godfather gave to the guests a stuffed ladybug and a small bag of sugared almonds as a thank you for attending the ceremony. My mom has kept one in the box of my childhood memories...

I take that in Britain, they are called ladybirds instead of ladybugs.

Jamie, That's what I understand.

Ladybird is actually the correct name of the beetle. Ladybug is used more in the US and I can't explain the reason for it. Unless, perhaps, it's because it's as "cute as a bug"...:>)

Oh, that's so good! I love ladybirds - and they're good news in the garden (though like so many other creatures they're under threat from us humans and our wretched pesticides) :-(

Amazing, only two people on here called them by their true name "ladybirds"

Hi nlbuchanan, I call them ladybirds in Australia that is all I have known them as. The larvae of ladybirds are good for the garden as they eat aphids. Years ago, when I was much younger, I remember crawling around collecting them for my friend's husband to let loose in his organic garden. :-)

So sweet...

"No matter what you're going through, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you'll find the positive side of things." Demi Lovato

"Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle." Marianne Williamson

You are a miracle :) Good night and God bless. Hugs.

Your caring words are wonderful and causes you to think how good God is. I won't be on for a while as I leave in the am to fly to Florida to say good-bye to my biological father whom I met 20 years ago and have had a good time reconnecting and learning about me. He was a alcoholic and left when I was 5. But God is good as He has restored what was lost and a great healer of our hearts. He isn't expected to be long here, so thankful for the time I have left. He is 87. God bless you all and be sure to thank God for all your moments as they are soon gone!
