Pixipixil, the Jackdaw is no more like a pigeon than land is like the sky, It is a cruel bird not so the pigeon, j will take young birds from the nest the pigeon is a veggy. Pigeon have a name as vermin but the j's is worse the farmers hate them for what they will do to young sheep etc.
I am sorry that I have been away for so long....but it was for the worse possible reason......I have had a time of deep depression(never had it before) the medication kept me very sleepy and I did not want to talk to anyone,...the reason my leg as broken down again and the idea of years more treatment was more than I could cope with. The Consultant as put me back on all the tablets, 10 more daily on top of the 22 I already take. I will try and visit C4J more often and keep you updated. Please may I ask for your prayers again they are so comforting knowing you are all on the case and I am certain that together we will win again. God bless you my sisters and brothers and keep you safe.Love and hugs for all.

So glad to hear from you again! I missed you. But I am so sorry to hear the leg is worse. I will remember you before the Throne of Grace. For some reason, the old labels have been in my mind lately.

Dear Barbaranne, so good to hear from you again, but not so good the news. Sometimes I wonder why we are given such burdens, but know that God is in control. I suffered with depression for many years and ended up trying to do away with myself. It's a long story and won't go into it, but about 1981, I threw out every anti-depressant I had and have not taken one since even though things have happened that would cause me to start them again. Just telling you this so you will know that you can come out of it and succeed with God on your side. Hugs and prayers for you Barbaranne.

On, my dear Barbaranne, no wonder you were depressed; such a long battle that seemed won, only to hide in wait and grab you later on. My prayers continue for your health and heart....

Barbaranne ---- When I read of your recurring problem the letter V popped into my mind. I am thinking V is for Victory over your leg problem and depression. Then I wondered what other V thoughts might apply. V for Virtual Prayer Group --- us! You are guaranteed our prayers. As for me, I pray whenever and wherever I am ---- After I read your email I was walking around doing housekeeping tasks and talking to God -- "Barbaranne needs comfort, less pain, happy thoughts, the assurance she is not in this alone." We bless you with our thoughts and prayers. Be well, Dear One.

This made me think of this quote: A joy shared is a joy made double, and a burden shared is but half the trouble.

From the bird nerd, thank you for this photo. I looked it up, and the jackdaw is a member of the crow family. Love my crows- I feed them bread and peanuts every morning while my tea steeps. Such smart creatures.

Crows are so smart! I live near a hwy and if there is a road kill they position themselves so they can watch the on coming traffic to feed. They know what lane the vehicles will be in.

Went through Sweden quite some years ago, but loved it and all the lakes etc. My estranged husband's mother came from Sweden and when he left, he left behind a wooden, handmade hatbox which was from Sweden. It is a treasure. Hugs.

There is an excellent documentary called "A Murder of Crows" (murder is the word for a group of crows.) It's available on PBS and youtube for anyone who is interested in learning more about crows. Enjoy!

Crows are protected here where I live xy and they have become a real pest. So noisy and leave their calling cards over all the picnic tables etc. We have a lot of outdoor cafes here and if anything is left on the table, even for a short period of time, the crows being scavengers, are on to it immediately. Not my favourite bird. Hugs.

Saw a really big bird in my yard today - I think it has been there once before. Almost as big as a scrub turkey. Very interesting.

We had a red shoulder hawk - 3 ft. from the house one day. It was my bday - Ugh! Hubby aunt calls one day - then she calls his mom and gives her the wrong info. The his mom calls and yells at me. Then she says nope it wasn't me and then your confused your have the wrong person. Then hubby calls his mom and says oh c is upset and it has nothing to do with you. Then she says I was mean to her? Geezus I wonder if she had been drinking? Now his niece is getting married and I don't want to go.

On reading the posts I was surprised the jackdaw was in the crow and not the pigeon family. The beak looks more pigeon-like than crow like...I tried to find why it was classified that way, but had no luck.
Wishing a refreshing weekend.

Never heard of a Western Jackdaw. Kind of a plain looking bird.
