My hubby and I camped in a tent for a long weekend. The first morning when we got up, we saw that someone had cut a two foot long slice down the back. Thus ended our tent camping. The next time we camped, we had asmall camper!!
Are y'all sure it was a 'someone' and not a 'some thing'?

Pretty sure it wasn't a 'something'. We were at a bluegrass festival on a farm with hundreds of tents/campers. Any critter with a lick of sense was long gone with all of the people and the music that want on 24 hrs. a day for 4 days. It was great!!!
My parents used to take us camping at a vacation spot in southern IN when I was a girl. I liked it a lot! There was a lot of swimming and fishing. Now that I am middle-aged, the idea of it has lost a lot of its appeal!
Not bad if you have an air mattress & a good sleeping bag, also in some tents you can get a fold up cot. to sleep on. Most tents have a waterproof floor sewn in them.

I think at my age would rather go to the lodge or motel/hotel. Much younger when we did that our children were still young, both are in their 40's now.

CatLadyOKC, my hubby and I used to sleep on the ground whenever we went camping., But now we also use air beds. that is about the only luxury we use.
I have always liked it unless I had my young scouts with us them you had to get the marshmallows out of their hair every time we roasted marshmallows, sometimes the older girls were worse.
